Do you need the whole judgment, or a shorter document?
A divorce judgment is often long: the parties' claims, the evidence, custody and property, then the ruling. USCIS asks for a complete translation of whatever you submit, so if you submit a 20-page judgment, all 20 pages are translated.
Often, though, what an office needs is proof that the marriage ended, and many countries issue that on one or two pages: a divorce certificate from the civil registry, or a current copy of the marriage certificate with the divorce annotated on it — Mexico's acta de divorcio, Brazil's marriage certificate with the averbação of the divorce, Colombia's marriage record with its marginal note. Does USCIS require my divorce decree to be translated?
Yes. Any document in another language that you submit must come with a complete English translation and the translator's certification (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)). The translation is guaranteed to be accepted, or your money back.
My divorce judgment is 20 pages. Do I have to translate all of it?
