The judgment needs its certificate of finality
A German divorce is granted by the Familiengericht and the document is the Scheidungsbeschluss. On its own it does not prove the divorce is final: what does is the Rechtskraftvermerk, the endorsement of legal force, which is stamped or attached once the appeal period has run.
A judgment submitted without it is routinely queried, and that is a problem with the copy rather than the translation. Ask the court for a copy carrying the endorsement before ordering. See our German marriage certificate page.
Umlauts, and the name after divorce
German umlauts are commonly expanded abroad — Müller becomes Mueller — so a passport, a German document and a US record can carry three spellings of one name. We reproduce the German spelling and note a genuine difference.
A former spouse may resume a previous name after the divorce, which is recorded separately with the Standesamt rather than in the judgment. See our German page.
