Certified Translation for Family Law Firms
eVerbary translates the foreign records family law cases turn on (divorce decrees, custody and guardianship orders, marriage and birth certificates) into English with a signed certification of accuracy, for $24.95 per page, usually within 24 hours. Family law firms get the same firm account as immigration practices: logins for paralegals, weekly or monthly invoicing, the client's name and file number on each order and invoice, and 10–20% volume discounts.

At a glance
| How it works | |
|---|---|
| Documents | Divorce decrees and judgments, legal separation, custody and guardianship orders, paternity acknowledgments, adoption records, prenuptial agreements, name changes, marriage, birth and death certificates, and the financial records behind support and property claims. |
| What courts usually require | A complete English translation and a signed statement from the translator that it is accurate and that they are competent in both languages. Some courts also want the signature notarized; requirements are set court by court. |
| Certification | Signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead with our contact details, page numbering and every stamp, seal and marginal note translated. |
| Notarization | $34.90 per order, at checkout, for courts that ask for it. |
| Turnaround | 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Expedited (+$4.99 per page) takes about half the time. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request. |
| Team accounts and roles | One account for the whole office. The owner and admins manage who belongs and how the team pays; members place orders and can see every order in the team. Team accounts. |
| Invoicing | Pay per order at checkout, or one invoice every week, every two weeks or every month (or a custom period of 8 to 90 days) for all of the team's orders. On an invoice cycle, colleagues order with no payment step. Invoicing and payment. |
| Client name and file number | Each order carries your client's name and your file (matter) number, and both appear on the invoice, so a bill can be matched to a case. |
| Volume discounts | 10% from 20 pages, 15% from 50 pages, 20% from 100 pages translated in the previous calendar month, across the whole account: $22.46, $21.21, $19.96 per page. How the tier is worked out. |
| Ways to pay | Card or PayPal at checkout, a prepaid balance on the account, invoices (also payable by check or wire transfer), or a payment link you send to the client so they pay their own translation. |
| Languages | 60+ languages into English, including Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese and Tagalog. All languages. |
| Credentials | Corporate member of the American Translators Association, #273062. Translations by professional human translators in the United States, never machine translation. |
Documents family law cases bring
The records that recur in a family law file, each with a page on what its translation has to show:
- Divorce decrees and court judgments, including finality certificates and marginal annotations
- Custody and guardianship orders, paternity acknowledgments and adoption records
- Legal separation and prenuptial agreements
- Marriage certificates, birth certificates, death certificates and name changes
- Bank statements, financial statements and powers of attorney for support and property matters
What a court asks of a translation
Most courts ask for a complete English translation of any foreign-language exhibit, with a statement from the translator that it is accurate and that they are competent in both languages. That is exactly what a certified translation contains. A translation by a party or a relative invites a challenge to its accuracy, which is why courts look for an impartial translator.
Requirements are set by each court, not nationally. Some family and probate courts also ask for the translator's signature to be notarized ($34.90 per order at checkout). Check the local rules or ask the clerk before filing; see certified translation for court. Spoken testimony is interpretation, a separate service; see interpretation.
When the case crosses into immigration
Family law and immigration files overlap more than they used to. A marriage-based petition has to show that every earlier marriage ended, so a foreign divorce decree goes to USCIS with a complete certified translation; a custody order can matter for a child's petition. The same eVerbary certification meets 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), and acceptance by USCIS is guaranteed or your money back. See marriage-based green card translations.
The firm account
Family law practices use the same account as immigration firms: paralegals order with their own logins, the firm pays per order or on one invoice a week, every two weeks or a month, and each order and invoice line carries the client's name and your file number. Clients who pay their own translations get a payment link. Everything else for firms, including the API and AI assistants, is on eVerbary for law firms.

Frequently asked questions
Do courts accept your certified translations of divorce decrees and custody orders?
A complete translation with a signed statement of accuracy and competence is the form US courts generally ask for, and it is what every eVerbary certified translation includes. Each court sets its own rules, so check the local rules or ask the clerk whether yours also wants the signature notarized.
Can you notarize a translation for court?
Yes. Notarization is $34.90 per order, added at checkout, for courts that ask for it. A notary confirms who signed the certification, not the accuracy of the translation.
Do you translate a foreign divorce decree for a marriage-based green card?
Yes. A petition based on marriage has to show that any earlier marriage ended, and a foreign divorce decree submitted to USCIS needs a complete certified English translation, including stamps, annotations and the finality certificate if there is one.
Can paralegals order on the firm's account?
Yes. The firm account is a team: paralegals are members with their own logins, and the owner or admins choose how the firm pays, per order or on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly invoice.
Can the client pay for their own translations?
Yes. Send the client the order's payment link; they pay by card or PayPal and the firm keeps the workflow.
How much does it cost?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, with 10% from 20 pages, 15% from 50 pages, 20% from 100 pages a month off. A typical birth or marriage certificate is one page.
Can I get a translation in less than 24 hours?
Yes. Expedited delivery at checkout takes about half the standard 24 hours. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
