An adoption file is never one document
An adoption file usually arrives as a stack rather than a page. It commonly contains:
- The adoption decree or court order
- The original birth certificate and the amended or post-adoption certificate
- Consent or relinquishment signed by the birth parents
- A home study, social report or welfare authority assessment
- Guardianship or custody orders that preceded the adoption
- Identity documents for everyone named in the file
One spelling per person, across the whole file
The most common problem with a translated adoption file is the same person appearing under two spellings — a name transliterated one way on the decree and another on the birth certificate. It raises a question that has nothing to do with the merits of the case, and answering it costs weeks.
We translate a file as a file, with one spelling per person, and where the originals genuinely disagree we flag the discrepancy instead of quietly choosing a side. Nothing is harmonized silently.
Certified for courts and immigration filings
Every page comes back with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy on company letterhead, which is what a US court and USCIS ask for. Where a court also wants the certification notarized, we can arrange that; tell us before the order is delivered.
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where a page is up to 250 words.
A standard translation is for business or personal use where certification is not needed, such as CVs, client intake forms or marketing material, and is billed at $0.10 per word.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to send the whole file, or just the decree?
Send whatever you have been asked to file. If several documents name the same people, sending them together lets us keep the names consistent across all of them.
The decree and the birth certificate spell the child's name differently.
We translate each document as issued and point out the discrepancy. Making two documents agree by rewriting one of them is not something a translator may do.
Is the translation accepted by a court?
Our certified translations are accepted by US courts and government agencies. Some courts additionally want the certification notarized, which we can arrange on request.
