Every country's card looks different
National identity cards come in as many formats as there are countries: the Latin American cédula or DNI, the Pakistani CNIC, the Indian Aadhaar card, the Turkish kimlik, the Iranian kart-e melli, the Chinese resident identity card. What they share is that they are small, printed on both sides, and dense with numbers.
We translate both sides, including the fine print, the issuing authority and whatever is recorded on the reverse. A translation of the front alone is an incomplete document, and it is usually the reverse that carries the issue and expiry dates.
The numbers are the point of the document
An identity number is what the card exists to carry, and a transposed digit makes the translation worse than useless. Identity numbers, card series, and issue and expiry dates are reproduced exactly as printed, never re-formatted into a US convention.
Where the card carries a machine-readable zone, a barcode or a QR code, the translation notes that it is there rather than pretending to render its contents.
When people need one translated
An identity card is rarely filed on its own. It usually travels with something else:
- Alongside a passport in an immigration filing
- As proof of identity in a court matter
- With a foreign driving licence at the DMV
- In a university admission or enrolment file
- For an employer completing its own records
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where a page is up to 250 words.
A standard translation is for business or personal use where certification is not needed, such as CVs, client intake forms or marketing material, and is billed at $0.10 per word.
Frequently asked questions
Do you translate the back of the card?
Yes. Both sides are translated, and on most cards the reverse carries the dates and the issuing authority.
Is a photo of my card enough?
A clear photo or scan works as long as the whole card is in frame, in focus and readable. Send both sides.
Will my ID number look different in the translation?
No. Identity numbers are reproduced exactly as printed, digit for digit, with no reformatting.
