Court Translation Requirements, State by State
What the courts of 6 states ask for when a marriage certificate, birth certificate, foreign judgment or other document in a divorce, custody, support or civil case is not in English: whether a translation must accompany it, who may make it, and what the translator's affidavit or declaration must say.
Every rule is taken from the state's own court or legislature website, linked, and dated.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a certified translation of my marriage certificate for a US divorce?
If you file it or offer it as evidence, the court generally needs an English translation, and most states on this page ask for the translator's signed statement of competence and accuracy. Each state page links the rule.
Can I translate my own documents for court?
Several states require the translator to swear to their qualifications, and the other side can object to the translation. Check the page for your state.
Does the translation have to be notarized?
Some rules ask for an affidavit, which is sworn before a notary; others accept a declaration under penalty of perjury. Each page says which. Notarization can be added at checkout for $34.90 per order.
How much does it cost?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words at eVerbary, certification included, usually delivered within 24 hours for one to three pages.
