Only a statutory marriage is dissolved by a court decree
Nigeria recognises statutory, customary and Islamic marriage, and they are dissolved differently. A statutory marriage is dissolved by a High Court under the Matrimonial Causes Act, producing a decree nisi and then a decree absolute. A customary marriage is dissolved under customary law, frequently before a customary court. An Islamic marriage is dissolved under Islamic law.

Decree nisi and decree absolute
A decree nisi is not the end of the marriage; the decree absolute is. An office shown only the nisi is looking at an incomplete divorce, and that is a problem with the copy rather than the translation.
Nigerian court documents are in English, so a translation is often not needed; some offices require a certification for any foreign document regardless. Ask first — you may need nothing.
