District office records

Thai civil documents are issued by the district office (amphoe): the birth certificate, the house registration (thabian baan) recording where a person is registered and with whom, and the national identity card. A marriage produces both a registration certificate and a register extract, and offices frequently ask for the two together.

We also translate divorce registrations, university transcripts and degrees and police clearance certificates.

Buddhist Era dates

Thai documents are dated in the Buddhist Era, which runs 543 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar: a birth recorded as 2540 is 1997. Every date on the document is converted, rather than left for an officer to work out, and the conversion is applied consistently across the whole file.

Thai script is written without spaces between words, and the same name romanizes in several ways. We follow the spelling on your passport so your documents agree with each other.

How it works

Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.

A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.

Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.

Certified vs. standard translation

A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where a page is up to 250 words.

A standard translation is for business or personal use where certification is not needed, such as CVs, client intake forms or marketing material, and is billed at $0.10 per word.

Frequently asked questions

Are Buddhist Era dates converted?

Yes. Every date is converted to the Gregorian calendar; nothing is left in B.E. for the reader to convert.

Do you translate the house registration?

Yes, including the household entries and the district office certification.

My name is spelled differently on two documents.

We match your passport and note where an original disagrees, instead of silently harmonizing the two.
