The transcript is the hard document, not the diploma
A diploma is one page carrying a name, an award and a date. A transcript is a table with dozens of rows, and every one of them has to survive: the course title, the grade, the credit value, the contact hours, the term it was taken in and the order it appears in.
So the translation mirrors the layout rather than rewriting it as prose. An admissions officer or an evaluator reads across from the original to the translation line by line, and a table that has been tidied into paragraphs is a table they cannot check. Seals, registration numbers, the registrar’s signature block and anything printed on the reverse are translated with it.
Grades are reproduced, never converted
Academic scales do not map onto each other. Germany runs 1 to 6 with 1 as the best mark, France marks out of 20, India reports percentages and divisions, Brazil and Spain use 0 to 10, and a “pass” in one system is a distinction in another. Whatever your transcript uses is what the translation says, together with the grading key printed on the document explaining it.
Turning those marks into a US grade point average is credential evaluation, not translation. It is a separate service from a separate organisation, and a translator who produced a GPA would be manufacturing the conclusion you are paying an evaluator to reach.
What a complete academic file usually contains
Institutions almost never want just the degree certificate:
- The diploma or degree certificate itself
- The academic transcript, mark sheet or record of studies — sometimes one per year rather than one per degree
- The supplement that lists subjects and marks: a diploma supplement, an histórico escolar, a foaie matricolă, a certificate of studies
- Course descriptions or syllabi, when a reviewer questions content or contact hours
- Secondary school leaving certificates for undergraduate admission
- The apostille or legalization page, and any document explaining a change of name
Who is receiving it changes what is required
This is where files stall, because the rules are not an industry standard. WES requires word-for-word translations from a professional service and states it cannot accept translations made by the applicant. ECE permits applicants to translate their own documents. ECFMG requires the translation to appear on letterhead identifying the preparer as a translation service. Universities set their own rules again.

A standard translation is for business or personal use where certification is not needed, such as CVs, client intake forms or marketing material, and is billed at the same $24.95 per page of up to 250 words.

Will my translated transcript be accepted by universities and evaluators?
Yes. Each translation includes a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy on company letterhead, which is the format universities, evaluation agencies and licensing boards ask for. We have never had one rejected.
Will you convert my grades into a US GPA?
No. We reproduce the grading scale exactly as your transcript states it, including the key printed on the document. Converting grades is credential evaluation, which an evaluation agency performs.
Do you translate both the diploma and the transcript?
Yes. Upload both in a single order and each is translated and certified. Sending them together also keeps your name spelled identically across the two.
My transcript is one mark sheet per year. Do I need all of them?
Usually yes — institutions want the complete record of studies. Check the list you were given, and send whatever is on it in one order.
