Israeli documents we translate
Israeli civil documents come from the Ministry of the Interior: the birth certificate (teudat leida), the identity card (teudat zehut) with the folded appendix that lists spouse and children, and the immigration certificate for new citizens. Marriage and divorce records are issued by the religious courts, which is why a marriage certificate and a divorce decree can look nothing like each other.
We also translate academic records, police certificates, military service and exemption documents and court judgments.
Unvocalized text and two calendars
Hebrew is written right to left and normally without vowels, so a name on a document can be read several ways and is often not the reading the holder uses. We take the spelling from your passport rather than transliterating it fresh, which is what keeps one person from becoming two in a file.
Many Israeli documents carry a Hebrew-calendar date beside the Gregorian one. Both are translated, with the Gregorian date given plainly so nobody has to convert anything.
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where a page is up to 250 words.
A standard translation is for business or personal use where certification is not needed, such as CVs, client intake forms or marketing material, and is billed at $0.10 per word.
Frequently asked questions
Do you translate the appendix of the teudat zehut?
Yes. The appendix lists family members and is usually the part the receiving office is after.
Are Hebrew calendar dates converted?
They are translated as they appear, alongside the Gregorian date the document also carries.
Part of my document is in Arabic.
That is common on Israeli documents. The Arabic text is translated as well; tell us when you order.
