The irrevocable power, in property
Israeli property practice relies heavily on the irrevocable power of attorney (yipui koach bilti chozer), given to secure a transaction and expressly stated not to be revocable because a third party's rights depend on it.
A US reader seeing "irrevocable" on a power may think it an error. It is a deliberate and common Israeli device, and we translate the irrevocability clause exactly because it is the operative term.
Notarisation, and the lawyer
An Israeli notary is a senior lawyer licensed separately, and a notarial power carries a distinctive numbered notarial certificate bound to the document.
For many acts a lawyer's authentication suffices. The two are different and the endorsement says which. We name the notary or lawyer and the licence number.
Powers granted abroad
A power granted in the United States for use in Israel is executed before an Israeli notary where one is available, before a consulate, or before a US notary with an apostille.
The Israeli Land Authority and the banks have their own requirements, and a power adequate for one may be refused by another. We name the issuing office.
The teudat zehut, and the Hebrew
Parties are identified by teudat zehut number, nine digits with a check digit, which does not change.
