Tawkeel, and the types
An Egyptian power (tawkeel) is registered at a notary office (shahr aqari) under the real estate publicity department, and it comes in defined types — general, for management, for litigation, for sale — each with its own standard wording.
The type is named on the document and determines what the attorney may do. A management power presented for a sale is refused, and we name the type as printed.
The consular power, and the diaspora
Egyptian consulates abroad issue powers for use in Egypt, and they must then be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Egypt before the notary office will act on them.
That step catches people. A consular power sitting unauthenticated in Egypt does nothing. We translate the authentication stamps where the file holds them.
The national number, and the witnesses
Parties are identified by the fourteen-digit national number, which encodes the century and date of birth and the governorate of registration.
Egyptian powers commonly carry witnesses and the notary's recitals, and the recitals are part of the instrument rather than formality. We translate them.
Arabic, numerals and the property description
Eastern Arabic numerals are given in Western digits and Hijri dates alongside Gregorian ones converted individually.
