Nepali documents we translate

The document that carries the most weight in Nepal is the citizenship certificate (nagarikta), which is the main proof of identity and parentage; the birth registration certificate comes from the ward office. Marriages are registered locally, and academic records come from the school board or the university as a certificate plus a transcript and a character certificate.

We also translate police clearance certificates, affidavits, property documents and court papers.

Bikram Sambat dates cannot be converted by arithmetic

Nepali documents are dated in the Bikram Sambat calendar, roughly 56 to 57 years ahead of the Gregorian one, with a new year in mid-April and months whose lengths change from year to year. There is no single number to subtract: each date has to be converted against a table, and doing it by rule of thumb puts a date of birth weeks or a year out.

Nepali is written in Devanagari and names transliterate several ways. We follow the spelling on your passport so the file stays consistent.

How it works

Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.

A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.

Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.

Certified vs. standard translation

A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where a page is up to 250 words.

A standard translation is for business or personal use where certification is not needed, such as CVs, client intake forms or marketing material, and is billed at $0.10 per word.

Frequently asked questions

Are Bikram Sambat dates converted?

Yes, each one individually. The Nepali year starts in mid-April and its months vary in length, so no fixed offset works.

Is the citizenship certificate enough on its own?

That is for the receiving office to say. It is the main identity document in Nepal, and we translate it in full, both sides.

Do you translate transcripts and character certificates?

Yes, along with the degree certificate. Universities usually ask for the set.

Ready to get started?

Upload your documents and receive your certified translation, typically within 24 hours.
