Myanmar names have no surname
This is the single most consequential thing about translating Burmese documents. A person's name in Myanmar is not inherited from a parent, and words like U, Daw, Ko, Ma and Maung are honorifics attached by age and status rather than parts of a legal name. US forms, which expect a first and last name, routinely absorb an honorific into one or the other.
The translation reproduces the name as the document gives it and identifies the honorific for what it is, so the officer reading it is not left matching a "Mr U" against a "Maung" elsewhere in the file.
Household lists, registration cards, and camp documents
The household list is the record that usually proves family relationships, and the National Registration Card carries a coded number combining a region number, a township abbreviation and a citizenship indicator, which is reproduced exactly. School and university records come as matriculation certificates and mark lists.
Many people resettled from camps in Thailand hold documents issued there or by a refugee agency instead, written in Thai or English rather than Burmese. Send what you have; if none of it is in Burmese, we will say so before charging you for a translation you do not need.
