Rupees, lakh and the digit grouping
Nepal uses the Nepalese rupee, and amounts are described in lakh and crore with digit grouping that places commas differently from US convention: 12,34,567 is 1,234,567.
A translation carrying the grouping across unchanged misreads the figure. We convert the grouping, name the unit and give the amount in Western notation with the currency named, because the Nepalese and Indian rupee are different currencies.
