Gross, net and the deductions between them
A payslip is read for what someone actually earns, and the line that answers it differs by country. Many systems show a gross figure, a series of statutory deductions and a net figure, and some show an employer contribution that is not paid to the employee at all — a reader taking the largest number on the page can overstate income substantially.
Each line is translated with its own label rather than mapped onto a US payslip's categories, and statutory contribution names are kept in the original with a literal rendering, because a US reader has no counterpart for most of them.
Pay periods and thirteenth salaries
Much of Latin America and parts of Europe and Asia pay a statutory thirteenth month, and some pay a fourteenth — aguinaldo, décimo tercero, tredicesima. Annual income calculated by multiplying a monthly payslip by twelve is wrong in those countries, and wrong in the direction that matters for an affidavit of support.
