Most Philippine certificates are already in English
Birth, marriage and death certificates issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the CENOMAR, NBI clearances, school records and court decisions are in English. They do not need translating, and we would rather tell you that than charge you for it. Annotations on PSA certificates — legitimation, a court-ordered correction, a recognition — are in English too.
What does need translating is what is written in Tagalog or Filipino: affidavits and joint affidavits made for a case, barangay certificates written in Filipino, letters from relatives, handwritten entries in a local civil registry book, and church records. Older records can also be in Spanish, which we translate as well. See Philippine birth certificates and the CENOMAR page.
Mixed pages, Taglish and other Philippine languages
A Philippine document often mixes English and Tagalog on the same page, and statements are commonly written in Taglish. USCIS expects the whole page to be understandable in English, so the Tagalog parts are translated in place and the English parts reproduced, with nothing left out.
For a document in Cebuano, Ilocano, Hiligaynon or another Philippine language, send it through the quote form before ordering, so we can confirm we have a translator for it.
Late registration and supporting documents
A birth registered years after the fact comes with a delayed registration and supporting documents — baptismal certificates, school records, joint affidavits of two disinterested persons. The affidavits are often in Filipino and are translated like any other sworn statement; the rest are usually English already. See affidavits.
Documents from the Philippines
Each of these pages describes the document as the Philippines issues it — the authority, the format, the annotations and what offices in the United States ask for: Birth Certificate · Marriage Certificate · Annulment and Divorce Document · NBI Clearance · Academic Transcript · University Diploma · Articles of Incorporation · Bank Statement · Death Certificate · Disability Certificate · Driver's license · Expert Report · Lease Agreement · Legal Separation · Medical Records · Name Change · PhilID National ID · Passport · Paternity Acknowledgment · Power of Attorney · Property Deed · Vehicle Title.
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where a page is up to 250 words.
A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page of up to 250 words.
Frequently asked questions
Is a certified Tagalog translation accepted by USCIS?
Yes. USCIS asks for a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)); every translation carries that signed certification, and acceptance is guaranteed or your money back.
Does my PSA birth certificate need translating?
Usually not: PSA certificates are in English. If any part is in Tagalog or another language, only that part needs translating, and we will tell you before you pay.
My affidavit is in Filipino.
That is the kind of document that does need translating. It is translated in full with the signed certification.
My document is in Cebuano.
Send it through the quote form first so we can confirm a translator for that language.
How much does Tagalog to English translation cost?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, the same as every other language, with the signed certification, the translation of every stamp and seal, and formatting included. Most certificates are one or two pages and come back within 24 hours.
