The PSA copy is the one that counts
A Philippine marriage is registered locally and then transmitted to the Philippine Statistics Authority, which issues the copy on security paper. USCIS no longer accepts marriage certificates issued by local civil registrar offices — the PSA copy is what counts. Church weddings and the civil record
Most Philippine marriages are solemnised in church, and the parish issues its own certificate. That church record is not the civil registration: the marriage must also be reported to the local civil registrar and transmitted to the PSA, and it is the PSA record an office will ask for.
Philippine documents are largely in English, with Tagalog or another regional language appearing in places — see our Tagalog page. Where a document is wholly in English an office may still require a certification; ask before ordering.
