What a CENOMAR is, and why it expires
A CENOMAR — Certificate of No Marriage Record — is issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority and states that its records show no marriage registered for the named person. It is the Philippine answer to the single status certificate other countries issue, and it is asked for when someone marries abroad and in fiancé(e) and spousal immigration files.
The detail that costs people money: a CENOMAR is valid for one year. An expired one has to be reordered from the PSA before it is any use, so check the issue date against your filing deadline before ordering a translation of it.
A negative finding is still a finding
The whole point of the document is what it does not record, so the statement that no marriage was found is the substance rather than a formality. It is translated in full, along with the scope of the search, the PSA reference number, the security features noted on the paper and the signature block.
