Two scripts, and they are not interchangeable
Hausa is written in Boko, the Latin alphabet used officially since the colonial period, and in Ajami, an Arabic-script tradition still used for religious texts, private correspondence and older records in northern Nigeria and Niger.
Boko uses hooked letters — ɓ, ɗ, ƙ and the tailed ƴ — that are distinct consonants, not decorated versions of b, d and k. Stripping them changes words, and on a name it changes the person. An Ajami document needs a translator who reads the Arabic script as Hausa rather than as Arabic; they are different languages in the same alphabet.
Most Nigerian paperwork is in English anyway
Nigerian civil and court documents are ordinarily issued in English, so what a Hausa speaker usually needs is not a translation of the certificate but an interpreter for a hearing, or a translation of the personal material around it — letters, threats, affidavits sworn locally, community or religious records.
