The título de bachiller and the notas certificadas
Venezuelan secondary education runs five years, 1st to 5th año, and ends with the título de Bachiller. The marks are in a separate document, the notas certificadas (certified grades), which list every subject year by year. Offices that ask for a high school diploma almost always want both, and the translation keeps the year-by-year table as it appears. Students who spent school years in Colombia, Peru or elsewhere on the way often hold records from those countries too; each is translated as the document of the country that issued it.
Marks are on a 1 to 20 scale, where 10 is generally the pass. A 14 is a respectable result, not a failing percentage, and the translation reproduces it as 14 with the scale stated; turning it into a US grade is the work of a credential evaluator.
Zona Educativa legalization and the apostille
For use abroad, the title and notas certificadas are legalized at the Zona Educativa of the state where the student studied and then apostilled through the foreign ministry's online system. The legalization stamps, the apostille and its verification code are all translated. Getting these done from outside Venezuela has been slow or impossible for many families; we translate the documents you have, and the receiving office decides what it accepts.
Uses in the US: placement of students in school (see school enrollment translations), community college and adult education admission, employers, and evaluation for university — see the Venezuelan transcript page. Names follow the passport and the birth certificate, both surnames included. See our Spanish page.
What USCIS requires
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.
State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where a page is up to 250 words.
A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page of up to 250 words.
Frequently asked questions
My documents were never legalized or apostilled.
We translate them as they are. Whether unlegalized documents are enough is up to the school, evaluator or office receiving them.
Do you convert 1-20 marks?
No. Marks are translated as printed, with the scale stated; conversion is for an evaluator.
Is the apostille translated?
Yes, with its verification code. It is part of the document you submit.
