Southern New Hampshire University: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) asks international campus applicants for financial documents in English or with a certified English translation, and for medical records translated into English, without saying who must translate; for academic records it publishes no translation rule. Southern New Hampshire University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Graduate applicants also need a NACES or AICE evaluation of their transcripts, which we do not provide; undergraduates can instead submit proof of graduation or sign an attestation form.
Bank statements
Certified English translation, sent only when your counselor asks.
NACES or AICE
Graduate applicants need a third-party evaluation.
Bologna exception
English transcript plus Diploma Supplement, no evaluation.
SNHU requirements at a glance
| What SNHU asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation | Financial documents: in English or with a certified English translation (International admission requirements (campus)). Medical records: original and translated into English (Information for accepted international students). Academic records: no translation rule published. |
| Who may translate | Not stated (International admission requirements (campus)). |
| Evaluation | Graduate: a third-party evaluation from a NACES or AICE member. Undergraduate: official proof of graduation or a signed attestation form; SNHU converts marks to a US GPA itself (International FAQs (campus)). |
| Bologna degrees | Three-year, 180 ECTS bachelor's degrees count as four-year degrees if SNHU receives the official transcript and the European Diploma Supplement, both in English; no evaluation needed (International FAQs (campus)). |
| How to send | Scans by email, one PDF per requirement, no ZIP files, under 15 MB. Official transcripts by courier to 55 South Commercial Street, Manchester, NH 03106, in the school's sealed envelope (International FAQs (campus)). |
| Timing | Financial documents only when the admission counselor asks, after acceptance, for the I-20 (International admission requirements (campus), accepted students). Official transcripts as soon as possible, ideally before arrival (International FAQs (campus)). |
| Online programs | International students apply online with the same application as US students; the online page states no translation rule, and online study does not qualify for an F-1 visa (online, campus). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. SNHU's international admission requirements ask for financial documents "in English or accompanied by a certified English translation" (admission requirements), without limiting who translates, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. What SNHU asks you to translate
At SNHU the certified translation rule sits in the financial part of the file. To receive an I-20, an accepted student sends a passport copy, proof of financial support and a financial affidavit, and every financial document must be in English or come with a certified English translation (Information for accepted international students). SNHU asks you not to send them until your admission counselor requests them (International admission requirements (campus)); the guarantee has to cover the first year, $39,700 for undergraduates and $38,900 for graduate students in 2026-2027.
Before your first term, the Wellness Center needs your medical records, original and translated into English, uploaded through the patient portal; and if you seek disability support, the Campus Accessibility Center asks for official translated documentation (Information for accepted international students).
Transcripts: evaluation, attestation or Diploma Supplement
For academic records SNHU sets a different path. Graduate applicants send a third-party evaluation from a NACES or AICE member; the evaluation agency sets its own translation rules (see translation for credential evaluation). Undergraduates can submit official proof of graduation or sign an attestation form, and SNHU International Admission converts marks to a US GPA itself (International FAQs (campus)).
Graduates of Bologna Process universities have a shortcut: a three-year, 180 ECTS bachelor's degree, conferred after 2003 or after the country joined, counts as a US four-year degree when SNHU receives the official transcript and the European Commission recognized Diploma Supplement, both in English, and no evaluation is needed (International FAQs (campus)). If your university issued them only in another language, ask SNHU whether a certified translation is acceptable before you rely on it. Transfer credit (up to 90 credits for a bachelor's, 12 for a master's) is processed only on official, sealed transcripts.
Where SNHU's pages differ
The admission requirements page says the file is reviewed once SNHU receives your official third-party evaluation, and the FAQ opens with an evaluation being required for admission; further down, the same FAQ says undergraduates can submit proof of graduation or an attestation form instead and only graduate students must submit a NACES or AICE evaluation. We have not resolved that for you; ask your admission counselor at international@snhu.edu which applies to your file.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Bank statements and sponsor letters for the financial guarantee
- Medical and immunization records for the Wellness Center
- University transcripts and degree certificates sent to your NACES or AICE evaluator
- High school diploma or graduation certificate, as proof of graduation
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to SNHU
Email scanned documents as your admission counselor asks, in one email with a separate PDF for each requirement: one for the bank statement with its translation, one for the passport, and so on (International FAQs (campus)).
Medical records and their translations are uploaded in the Wellness Center's patient portal through mySNHU (Information for accepted international students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For SNHU that means we translate your financial, medical and academic documents; the NACES or AICE evaluation graduate applicants need comes from the evaluation agency, and sealed transcripts come from your school.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Who can translate my documents for SNHU?
SNHU does not restrict who translates (International admission requirements (campus)). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do I need a credential evaluation for SNHU?
Graduate applicants do, from a NACES or AICE member. Undergraduates can submit proof of graduation or an attestation form (International FAQs (campus)).
I have a three-year Bologna degree. What does SNHU need?
The official transcript and the European Diploma Supplement, both in English; no NACES or AICE evaluation (International FAQs (campus)).
Do my vaccination records need to be translated?
Yes. SNHU's Wellness Center asks for required medical documents in the original and translated into English (Information for accepted international students).
