AACC requirements in detail
Translation
All F-1 documents in English or with an English translation by a certified translator (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
Who may translate
A certified translator (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
Academic records
Official or certified copies of transcripts or the high school diploma or certificate, showing graduation from each secondary and post-secondary school (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
Foreign college credit
Course-by-course evaluation from WES, ECE or The Evaluation Company only; NASBA is also accepted for the Financial Accounting certificate leading to the CPA exam (International students: admission for F-1 visa students, catalog).
Translation for the agency
Documents sent to the agency must be in English or with a word-for-word English translation; The Evaluation Company sells its own translation (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
Where to send
Mail to Admissions and Enrollment Development, Student Services Center, 101 College Parkway, Arnold, MD 21012-1895, or email legible copies to the international admissions advisor (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
Deadlines (F-1)
From abroad or change of status: May 1 for fall, October 1 for spring. F-1 transfers: July 15 and December 15 (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
Residents and other statuses
Permanent residents, asylees, refugees and other non-citizens send copies of immigration documents after applying; the page states no translation rule for them (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
One rule for every F-1 document
AACC states its translation rule at the end of each F-1 checklist (applying from abroad, transferring an F-1 record, changing status in the US): all documents in English or with an English translation by a certified translator (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
That covers the transcripts and diploma, and also the bank statement and the sponsor's affidavit of support, which most colleges mention only for the money amount. Only complete applications are reviewed for an I-20.
AACC keeps what you send: documents become college property and are not returned, so send official or certified copies rather than originals you will need for the visa interview, and never the original passport.
Foreign credit: three agencies, a word-for-word translation, and a 2.66-credit floor
To transfer credit from a college outside the US, AACC accepts an evaluation from World Education Services, Educational Credential Evaluators or The Evaluation Company, and no other agency (catalog).
Ask for a course-by-course report for college transcripts; a general or document-by-document report is enough if you only need your high school evaluated.
The agency sends a copy directly to Records and Registration, Student Services Building 140, in Arnold (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
AACC tells you that documents sent to the agency must be in English or with a word-for-word English translation.
Each agency has its own rule on who may make it: WES wants a professional translator (WES); ECE accepts any complete, word-for-word translation, including your own (ECE); The Evaluation Company accepts outside translators only if they are certified by the American Translators Association, or sells its own (TEC). eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request through a free quote.
Once the report arrives, a transcript evaluator matches it to your program within about 20 working days. Courses worth less than 2.66 semester hours count only as general electives, unless two related courses can be merged (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
Need a certified translation for AACC?

Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and the high school diploma or certificate
- University transcripts, mark sheets and degree certificates
- Bank statements and the sponsor's affidavit of support

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to AACC
Send the application and documents, with their certified translations, by mail to Admissions and Enrollment Development in Arnold, or email legible copies to the international admissions advisor listed on the page (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
For foreign college credit, send the translation with your records to WES, ECE or The Evaluation Company, and have the agency send the evaluation to Records and Registration; syllabi go to transfercredit@aacc.edu once you have an AACC ID (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For AACC that means we translate your records and financial documents; the course-by-course evaluation comes from WES, ECE or The Evaluation Company.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my documents for AACC?
A certified translator, according to AACC's F-1 admission page (International students: admission for F-1 visa students). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do my bank statements need a translation too?
Yes. The certified-translator rule applies to all documents in the F-1 file (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
Which agencies does AACC accept for foreign credits?
Only WES, ECE or The Evaluation Company; NASBA also for the CPA-track Financial Accounting certificate (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
Will AACC return my documents?
No. Everything submitted becomes property of the college (International students: admission for F-1 visa students).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for The Evaluation Company?
Yes, on request through a free quote; write in the notes that the translation is for a TEC evaluation for AACC. ATA certifies translators into English only for certain languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Chinese and Arabic.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
