Tarrant County College: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
Tarrant County College (TCC) publishes no translation rule for foreign records: F-1 applicants must have an AICE or NACES member agency send a general evaluation of their foreign high school diploma for admission, and any student who wants credit for college work abroad may send an optional course-by-course evaluation. TCC's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE, IERF and Educational Perspectives, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The translation comes first and goes to the agency with your records; the agency then writes the evaluation and sends it to TCC, and that evaluation is not something we provide.
AICE or NACES
TCC takes an evaluation from a member of either association.
Mandatory for F-1
Everyone else may skip the high school evaluation.
No foreign transcripts
TCC accepts neither copies nor originals; only the evaluation.
TCC requirements at a glance
| What TCC asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation | TCC states no translation rule for foreign records; they reach it only through an agency evaluation (Submit transcripts). The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English. |
| Who may translate | Set by the evaluation agency you choose. WES, ECE, IERF, Educational Perspectives and FCSA accept a translation from a professional service (see below). |
| F-1 applicants | A general evaluation of the foreign high school diploma or transcript, from an AICE or NACES agency, is required and not optional for F-1 applicants (first-time, transfer). |
| Other students | A high school evaluation is optional, because TCC does not require non-US high school transcripts for enrollment (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations). |
| Foreign college credit | Only a professional course-by-course evaluation is considered. It is optional, and TCC may not accept its recommendations (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations). |
| Where the evaluation goes | The agency sends it directly to InternationalEvaluations@tccd.edu or by mail to the International Student Admissions & Compliance Office in Fort Worth (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations). |
| Copies or originals | TCC does not accept copies of international diplomas or transcripts (International transfer applicants), nor original foreign transcripts (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations). |
| F-1 deadlines | Complete application packet before July 1 for fall, November 1 for spring and April 1 for summer (International first-time applicants). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. TCC asks for an evaluation from a member of AICE or NACES (transcript evaluation page), and WES, a NACES member, accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE, IERF and Educational Perspectives accept one as well. Who at TCC needs an evaluation, and who does not
For F-1 students the evaluation is part of the application packet: first-time applicants, and transfer applicants who are in their first US semester or come from a high school or an ESL-only program, ask an AICE or NACES agency to send TCC a general evaluation of the foreign high school record (first-time, transfer). Residents, immigrants and other non-F-1 students do not need one to enroll (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations).
Foreign college work is different for everyone. TCC considers only a professional course-by-course evaluation, warns that such credit is unlikely to fulfill specific degree requirements, especially for studies not taught in English, and calls these evaluations costly; it asks students to think before ordering one (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations). If you decide not to order an evaluation, TCC does not need a translation of those records either.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
TCC accepts any member of AICE or NACES, so the translation rule is the one of the agency you choose. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency or another professional service; it does not accept translations made by applicants and does not translate documents itself. Translations are uploaded in the WES account.
ECE asks for complete, word-for-word translations in the same format as the original and lets applicants prepare them themselves; for $85 it sells a Translation Waiver, under which ECE translates internally for its report and no translation is delivered to you. IERF asks for typed, line-by-line, word-for-word translations, reserves the right to require a professional translation, and its glossary calls one required; it says certified translations are not required.
Educational Perspectives accepts translations from a reputable translation agency or a certified professional translator and also sells its own. FCSA, in Austin, asks for a certified English translation, accepts most professional agencies, and takes non-certified translations of Spanish documents, even by the applicant. Other members have their own rules, and some accept only a translator certified by ATA: read the agency's page before you order.
The order of steps for TCC
Translation first: order it from the documents you have, with every stamp and grade, and keep the original-language records, which the agency also needs. Then open the evaluation order with the agency, upload or send both, and ask it to send the report to TCC by email at InternationalEvaluations@tccd.edu, which is also where TCC's Transcript Evaluations office answers whether a report has arrived (International first-time applicants).
One translation case does go to TCC itself: transcripts from Puerto Rico, which TCC treats as US transcripts. If the Puerto Rican institution will not issue the transcript in English, TCC asks for an official translation and does not say who must make it (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations).
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school diploma or secondary school leaving certificate, for the general evaluation
- Secondary school transcripts or mark sheets, every year
- University transcripts and degree certificates, if you want a course-by-course evaluation for credit
- Transcripts from a Puerto Rico institution that does not issue them in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to TCC
For foreign records, the translation is not uploaded to TCC: it goes to the evaluation agency with your documents (WES, for example, takes it in your WES account). The agency sends the finished evaluation to TCC by email or mail (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations); in the F-1 application packet the evaluation report is submitted in PDF format (International first-time applicants).
For a Puerto Rico transcript, the official translation goes to TCC with the transcript, as a US transcript would (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For TCC that means we translate your records for the agency; the general or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from an AICE or NACES member after the translation, and the agency sends it to TCC.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Does Tarrant County College require a certified translation of my foreign transcript?
TCC itself publishes no translation rule for foreign records. It requires an evaluation from an AICE or NACES agency (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations), and the agency asks for the translation: WES, for example, wants one from a professional translator (WES).
I am not on an F-1 visa. Do I need an evaluation of my foreign high school diploma?
No. TCC says the high school evaluation is optional for non-F-1 students, because non-US high school transcripts are not required to enroll (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations).
Which evaluation agency does TCC accept?
Any member of AICE or NACES, sending a general evaluation for high school or a course-by-course evaluation for college work (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations). Their translation rules differ; compare them before ordering the translation.
Can I send TCC a copy of my foreign transcript with a translation?
No. TCC does not accept copies of international diplomas or transcripts (International transfer applicants) or original foreign transcripts (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations); it reads only the agency's evaluation.
Should I get my foreign college courses evaluated for credit?
TCC leaves it to you: the course-by-course evaluation is optional, TCC may not accept its recommendations, and it notes that foreign credit rarely fulfills specific degree requirements (Transcript evaluation, including international evaluations).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
