Arlington Baptist University (ABU) says academic records issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by an acceptable English translation, and that foreign postsecondary credentials must be evaluated for US equivalency through a method or service ABU accepts; it does not say who must translate.

Arlington Baptist University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The evaluation of college records from abroad is a separate step that we do not provide.

ABU at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

ABU's 2026-2027 catalog asks for an acceptable English translation of academic records not in English and does not restrict who makes it (catalog, international admission); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 28, 2026.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript

This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice

  • Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
  • The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
  • Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
  • The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

ABU requirements in detail

Translation

Academic records in a language other than English must be accompanied by an acceptable English translation (ABU Academic Catalog 2026-2027 (PDF)).

Who may translate

Which records

Secondary records if you have fewer than 12 college credits; records from every postsecondary institution, including dual-credit ones (ABU Academic Catalog 2026-2027 (PDF)).

Evaluation

Foreign postsecondary credentials evaluated for US equivalency through a method or service acceptable to ABU; no agency named (ABU Academic Catalog 2026-2027 (PDF)).

Finances

Notarized Affidavit of Support, proof of funds, passport page and a $5,000 international deposit, $2,500 of it before the I-20 (ABU Academic Catalog 2026-2027 (PDF)).

Health

Physical examination, health forms, meningitis vaccination when applicable and a tuberculosis test (ABU Academic Catalog 2026-2027 (PDF)).

English

A university-approved test or other approved evidence; applicants from English-speaking countries may be exempt (ABU Academic Catalog 2026-2027 (PDF)).

Translation for all records, evaluation for college records

ABU's catalog separates the two steps.

Every academic record issued in a language other than English must come with an acceptable English translation, whether it is a secondary school record (required if you have fewer than 12 college-level credits) or a record from any college or university you attended, dual-credit institutions included (catalog).

Only foreign postsecondary credentials need an evaluation for US equivalency, through a method or credential-evaluation service ABU accepts.

ABU does not name an agency, so ask Admissions which one it accepts before ordering, and give the agency the same certified translation. For the school record, see high school diploma translation.

The I-20 comes after documents and the deposit

ABU issues the Form I-20 only after the academic, admissions, financial and initial deposit requirements are met (catalog).

International applicants provide a notarized Affidavit of Support, proof of funds for costs of attendance and living expenses, and a copy of the passport page, and pay a $5,000 international enrollment deposit applied to the student account, in two installments, $2,500 before the I-20.

Health documents include a physical examination, a tuberculosis test and, when applicable, the bacterial meningitis vaccination.

F-1 students transferring from another US school are admitted first, and the SEVIS record is transferred after.

Documents applicants usually translate

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to ABU

  • Submit the records and their English translations to ABU Admissions; send college records and the same translation to the evaluation service ABU accepts (ABU Academic Catalog 2026-2027 (PDF)).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For ABU that means we translate your records, bank statements and health documents; the US equivalency evaluation of college credentials comes from an evaluation service.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a credential evaluation?

For foreign postsecondary credentials, yes, through a method or service ABU accepts (ABU Academic Catalog 2026-2027 (PDF)).

Do I need my high school records?

Yes, if you have fewer than 12 college-level credits (ABU Academic Catalog 2026-2027 (PDF)).
