Degree certificates

Sudanese degree certificates are issued by the university and signed by its officers. Many are in Arabic, some are bilingual, and some, particularly in medicine, are in English. The degree title, the class or grade and the date of award are translated exactly as written, without converting the degree to a US equivalent.

The Sudanese embassy in London authenticates university certificates after they have been authenticated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. USCIS does not require that; some licensing boards and evaluators ask about verification, so check with them. See WES translations.

Names and the transcript

The certificate gives the graduate's name as a chain of given name and paternal names, usually three or four. Evaluators compare it with the passport and the transcript, so we use one spelling throughout. See the Sudanese transcript page.

If your university has moved since the war began in April 2023, a replacement certificate may come from a different office or city than the original; each is translated as issued. See our Arabic page.

What USCIS requires

Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.

State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.

How it works

Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.

A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.

Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.

Certified vs. standard translation

A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where one sheet of your document is one page, with no word cap.

A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page with no word cap.

Frequently asked questions

My degree certificate is in English.

Then it may need no translation. We check every stamp and note on it before quoting.

Should the translation call my degree a US bachelor's?

No. We translate the Sudanese title as written; equivalence is the evaluator's decision.

My replacement certificate shows a different city.

Many universities moved during the war. We translate the document as issued.

Is acceptance by universities, colleges and schools guaranteed?

Yes. Our certified translations are guaranteed to be accepted by universities, colleges and schools in the United States — and by USCIS, the NVC, courts, government agencies and employers — or your money back. The guarantee covers the translation itself, not the original document or the admission decision, and it covers credential evaluation agencies such as WES and ECE as well. Full terms are in our refund policy.
