University records in Arabic or English

Arabic replaced English as the main language of university teaching in Sudan around 1990, so transcripts from many programmes are in Arabic, while others, often medicine and some private colleges, may be in English or both. If every part of your transcript is in English it needs no translation; we check before quoting.

Course names are translated as the subjects they are, not adjusted to a US equivalent, and grades and credit hours are kept exactly as printed. An evaluator such as WES converts them, not the translator; see credential evaluation translations.

Authentication and access since the war

Sudanese universities issue transcripts through their registrars, and Sudanese documents for use abroad are authenticated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. USCIS does not need that step, but some evaluators and licensing boards ask about verification; check with them.

If your university has moved or issues records remotely since the war began in April 2023, we translate whatever it issues, including electronic copies. See our Arabic page and the Sudanese university diploma page.

What USCIS requires

Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.

State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.

How it works

Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.

A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.

Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.

Certified vs. standard translation

A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where one sheet of your document is one page, with no word cap.

A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page with no word cap.

Frequently asked questions

My transcript is half Arabic, half English.

We translate the Arabic parts and keep the English as it appears, so the result reads as one document.

Can you convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. We translate grades as printed; GPA conversion is the evaluator's job.

My university moved after the war began.

Many did. We translate the transcript as issued, whatever office or city it names.

Is acceptance by universities, colleges and schools guaranteed?

Yes. Our certified translations are guaranteed to be accepted by universities, colleges and schools in the United States — and by USCIS, the NVC, courts, government agencies and employers — or your money back. The guarantee covers the translation itself, not the original document or the admission decision, and it covers credential evaluation agencies such as WES and ECE as well. Full terms are in our refund policy.
