The Public Registry, and how fast it is
A Georgian company is registered with the National Agency of Public Registry under the Ministry of Justice, through the Public Service Hall, and registration is famously quick — same-day in the ordinary case. The extract shows the director, the partners and the capital.
The register is online and searchable, so the identification number is reproduced exactly rather than tidied.
The identification number does double duty
A Georgian legal entity carries a single identification number that serves as both the registration and the tax number — one identifier where most systems have two or three. A foreign office asking for the tax ID and the company number is asking for the same digits twice.
Saying that in the translation saves a round trip that otherwise happens reliably.
შპს, and the charter
The shezghuduli pasukhismgeblobis sazogadoeba (შპს, SHPS) is the limited liability form and the joint-stock company (სს) the other common one. The Georgian designation is part of the legal name.
The charter is the constitutive document and the extract the evidence of current state; an office asking for "the articles" may want either, and they are different documents.
Mkhedruli, and no capital letters
Georgian is written in its own Mkhedruli alphabet, which has no upper and lower case at all — so a company name that looks uncapitalised in the original is not informal, it is Georgian. We do not invent capitalisation to make it look like a US name.
Georgian surnames carry regional endings — -dze, -shvili, -iani, -ava — that a reader can misread as suffixes. We reproduce them and follow the passport spelling. See our Georgian page.
