US practice separates the certificate of incorporation from the bylaws. Most civil-law jurisdictions do not: a single constitutive instrument — estatutos sociales, contrato social, Satzung, statuts — contains the corporate purpose, the capital, the governance rules and the transfer restrictions together, executed before a notary and registered.
So a company asked for "the bylaws" may hold one document where a US reader expects two, or the reverse. We translate what exists and name it as it names itself rather than splitting it into US categories.
