A contract before it is a certificate
What an Egyptian couple holds is usually a marriage contract (عقد الزواج) rather than a certificate in the Western sense. For Muslim couples it is concluded before an authorised marriage officiant (ma'zoun); for Christian couples it is concluded in church under the rules of their denomination. The marriage is then recorded with the civil authorities, and a civil extract can be issued from that record.

Arabic script, names and dates
Arabic names romanise several ways, and a passport, an older document and a foreign record commonly disagree. We follow the passport spelling and flag a genuine difference rather than quietly choosing one.

Do I need the contract or the civil extract?
It depends on the office, and they do ask for different things. Check before ordering; we translate either, and the contract is usually the longer document.
My names are spelled differently on different documents.
Common with Arabic romanisation. We follow the passport spelling and note the difference, so the office can see it is the same person.
Are the witnesses and the dowry clause translated?
