Computerised certificates and the handwritten ones before them
Egyptian births are registered by the Civil Status Organisation, and the certificate most often requested today is the computerised extract — a printed form issued from the national database, carrying the national identity number. Older certificates are handwritten forms completed at the registry office, and they look nothing like the modern printout.
Where an office asks specifically for the computerised version, an older handwritten certificate will not satisfy it even though the underlying registration is the same. Check what was requested before ordering, and if the answer is the computerised extract, obtain that first.
Arabic script, and names across documents
Egyptian documents are in Arabic, and Arabic names romanize several ways — the same name can appear three ways across a passport, a birth certificate and a marriage certificate. What USCIS requires
The requirement is the same for every country: under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate.
