How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
SUNY Westchester Community College asks international applicants for high school records in English or translated, with both the original and the translation, and its international office says the translation must come from an official translation service.
SUNY Westchester Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
High school records need no evaluation; foreign college credit needs a course-by-course evaluation from an agency on Westchester's list, which we do not provide.
Westchester CC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Westchester's international student FAQ says a high school diploma or transcript in another language must be translated by an official translation service (international FAQ), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Westchester CC requirements in detail
Translation
High school transcripts, diplomas or exam results not in English must be translated; send both the original and the English translation (International student admissions).
Who may translate
An official translation service (International Student Services FAQs).
Evaluation (high school)
Not needed for admission (International student admissions, FAQ).
Exams accepted as proof
CSEC, GCE A-Levels, IGCSE/O-Level, Abitur, Baccalauréat, CBSE/ISC and WAEC/NECO results (International student admissions).
Foreign college credit
Transcripts accepted only if translated and evaluated, course by course, by a NACES-affiliated agency from Westchester's list; official transcripts go to the registrar at Transcript@sunywcc.edu (Foreign credit evaluation, admissions).
Sponsor documents
An employer letter from a sponsor abroad must be in English or translated into English (International Student Services FAQs).
Deadlines
From abroad: June 15 for fall, November 1 for spring. From within the US: July 1 and November 15. Review takes about two to three weeks (International student admissions).
High school: translate, do not evaluate
Westchester is one of the colleges that reads foreign high school records itself.
Its admissions page says high school transcripts do not need an evaluation service, but a document not in English must be translated, and both the original and the English translation are required (International student admissions).
The international office's FAQ adds who should translate: an official translation service (International Student Services FAQs).
Proof of secondary school can also be an external exam: CSEC, GCE A-Levels, IGCSE or O-Levels, the Abitur, the Baccalauréat, CBSE or ISC, and WAEC or NECO (International student admissions).
An Abitur or Baccalauréat certificate is translated like any other record, with every subject and mark kept as printed.
College credit: translated and evaluated by a listed agency
For credit, the rule is stricter.
International transcripts are considered only if they have been translated and evaluated by a professional organization affiliated with NACES, and you must use one of the agencies on Westchester's list and request a course-by-course evaluation (Foreign credit evaluation).
The list runs from Academic Evaluation Services to Transcript Research and includes ECE, Educational Perspectives, IERF, Josef Silny and SpanTran: The Evaluation Company.
Each agency has its own rules for translations, and some sell their own.
English courses taken abroad generally do not count toward Westchester's Composition and Literature requirement; if the college taught in English, the English Department may review a syllabus and course outline (Foreign credit evaluation).
Where Westchester's pages differ
The F-1 FAQ of Westchester's English Language Institute says a translation may be needed for diplomas in languages other than Spanish and Portuguese.
The international admissions page and the international student FAQ ask for an English translation of any high school document not in English.
We have not resolved this; if your diploma is in Spanish or Portuguese, ask International Student Services which rule applies to your program.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Westchester CC
Complete the online application and upload the original document and its English translation through the document upload link on the admissions page; the $50 fee is mailed by check or money order to International Student Services in Valhalla (International student admissions).
For foreign college credit, the listed agency evaluates the records; official transcripts go to the registrar at Transcript@sunywcc.edu (International student admissions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Westchester CC that means we translate your high school records directly for admission; for college credit, the course-by-course evaluation comes from an agency on Westchester's list.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does my high school diploma need to be translated and evaluated?
Translated, yes, by an official translation service; evaluated, no (International Student Services FAQs).
Do I send the original too?
Yes. Westchester asks for both the original and the English translation (International student admissions).
Which agency should evaluate my foreign college courses?
One of the agencies on Westchester's list, with a course-by-course report (Foreign credit evaluation).
Will my English classes from abroad count?
Generally not toward Composition and Literature; the English Department reviews exceptions (Foreign credit evaluation).
Does my sponsor's employment letter need a translation?
Yes, if it is not in English (International Student Services FAQs).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
