How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
Hudson County Community College asks F-1 applicants for documents translated into English, and for foreign transcripts it says you must provide all documents certified and translated into English; it does not say who must translate.
Hudson County Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
High school transcripts from outside the US must also be evaluated by a NACES member, and foreign college credit needs a course-by-course analysis, which we do not provide.
HCCC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
HCCC's international application asks for documents translated into English and for foreign transcripts certified and translated into English (international application), without restricting who translates; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Worth knowing about HCCC
Certified and translated
Foreign transcripts in English, with certification.
NACES for high school
F-1 high school graduates need a general analysis.
Copies, not originals
Scans are fine, except official transcripts and notarized forms.
HCCC requirements in detail
Translation
All F-1 documents translated into English where applicable; foreign transcripts certified and translated into English (International student application packet, 2024-2025 (PDF)).
Who may translate
Not stated.
High school records (F-1)
Transcripts from outside the US must be evaluated by one NACES member of your choice, which sends the official report directly to HCCC: a general analysis for high school graduates (International student application packet, 2024-2025 (PDF)).
College records
Official transcripts from every institution; for foreign ones, a course-by-course analysis from a NACES member (International student application packet, 2024-2025 (PDF)). The transfer page highly recommends WES (Transfer students).
Copies or originals
Photocopies and digital copies are accepted, except official transcripts and documents that need a notary's signature (FAQ); the sponsor's statement and residency statement go as originals (International student application packet, 2024-2025 (PDF)).
Where to send
Apply online first; after general acceptance, F-1 students send the International Student Application packet to the Office of International Student Services, with a $250 processing deposit (International students, packet).
Deadlines (F-1)
July 1 for fall and November 1 for spring; financial documents less than two months old (International students, packet).
Residents and transfers
Students educated outside the US request official transcripts and have them evaluated by a NACES member, WES highly recommended; unofficial transcripts can be sent first for review (Transfer students).
Translation and evaluation, even for high school
Many community colleges read a foreign high school diploma themselves.
HCCC's F-1 checklist does not: high school transcripts from outside the US must be evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, chosen from the NACES website, and the evaluator sends the official result directly to HCCC (International student application packet, 2024-2025 (PDF)).
For a high school graduate the report type is a general analysis; for college work, a course-by-course analysis.
The packet also asks you to provide all foreign documents certified and translated into English (International student application packet, 2024-2025 (PDF)).
In practice the translation goes to the evaluator with your transcripts, and the evaluator applies its own rule to it.
WES, which HCCC's transfer page highly recommends, accepts translations from a professional translation service and not from the applicant (WES).
The NACES site is also where HCCC sends you to see which documents are required from your country.
Copies, originals and the $250 deposit
HCCC wants photocopies or scans, not originals, because you will need the originals at the embassy or consulate.
The exceptions are official transcripts, documents that need a notary's signature, and two sponsor forms marked "no copies accepted", which must be submitted as originals and not emailed (International student application packet, 2024-2025 (PDF), FAQ).
The process has two steps: the general HCCC online application, then, after general acceptance, the International Student Application packet with a non-refundable $250 processing deposit paid to the Bursar (International students, packet).
Bank statements must be under two months old and converted to US dollars. The packet linked from the page is the 2024-2025 version; ask International Student Services whether a newer one applies.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to HCCC
Apply online, then send the International Student Application packet, with copies of translated documents, to the Office of International Student Services (International students, packet).
Your foreign transcripts and their certified translations go to the NACES evaluator you choose, which sends its report directly to HCCC (International student application packet, 2024-2025 (PDF)).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For HCCC that means we translate your transcripts and other records; the NACES general or course-by-course analysis is ordered from the evaluator.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need my foreign high school transcript evaluated for HCCC?

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
