Foothill College: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
Foothill College asks international applicants for documents in English or officially translated into English, uploaded through its international admission portal; its policy does not say who must make the translation. Foothill College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Foothill does not evaluate foreign transcripts, so credit for college work abroad needs a course-by-course evaluation from an outside agency such as WES, which we do not provide.
Officially translated
Every document in English or with an official translation.
Upload only
No physical documents for admission; four intakes a year.
Credit after arrival
Outside course-by-course evaluation, reviewed by a counselor.

|---|---|
| Translation | All documents in English or officially translated into English (source). |
| Who may translate | Not stated. |
| Where it goes | The international admission portal; Foothill says no physical documents are required (source). |
| Transcripts for admission | Used for admission only; Foothill does not evaluate foreign transcripts or credentials (source). |
| Credit for college abroad | A course-by-course evaluation from a recognized agency such as WES, sent by the agency directly to Admissions & Records; a counselor decides how it applies (source). |
| Bank statement | An original or official bank letter or statement dated within six months; Foothill says the document must be in English, and foreign currency is accepted (source). |

| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. Foothill's How to Apply page says all documents must be in English or "officially translated into English" and does not restrict who translates, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Admission online, credit in person
Foothill admits international students four times a year, for fall, winter, spring and summer, either on an F-1 visa or for online study from abroad. Everything for admission is uploaded in the international admission portal: passport, English test, bank letter and transcripts, with the official translation of anything not in English. No physical documents are mailed. US transcripts may be unofficial, but screenshots, education plans and schedule summaries are not accepted.
Credit is a separate, later step. Foothill does not evaluate foreign transcripts for transfer credit or course waivers. If you took college classes abroad, you order a course-by-course evaluation from an outside evaluator, and after you arrive you bring the original and the evaluated transcript to an International Academic Counselor. Counselors make no credit decisions before you are admitted and on campus. Foothill also warns that the four-year school you transfer to later will run its own evaluation and may award different credit.
Which evaluator, and the sonography exception
The evaluations office asks for a course-by-course report from a recognized agency, naming WES as the example, sent directly by the agency to Admissions & Records. The How to Apply page links a list of foreign evaluation services; Foothill says it does not endorse those companies, and the list itself is marked as updated in August 2007, so check each agency's current details on its own site.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is stricter: all foreign transcripts must be evaluated by one of the agencies on its own list, among them ECE, IERF, WES and the credential evaluation institute at California State University. Each evaluation agency sets its own translation rules; for WES, see translation for WES.
What "all documents" covers
On the How to Apply page, the sentence asking for documents in English or officially translated sits in the paragraph on proof of high school completion for applicants under 18, right after the section on foreign transcripts. The bank letter has its own line saying the document must be in English, without mentioning a translation. If your bank cannot issue a letter in English, ask the International Student Programs office whether an official translation will do.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and the graduation certificate or diploma
- University transcripts and degree certificates, for admission and later evaluation
- Bank letters or statements, if your bank cannot issue them in English
- Proof of high school completion, which applicants under 18 must submit
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Foothill
Upload each translation together with its original in the international admission portal when you apply; Foothill reviews them for admission only (source).
For credit, the evaluation agency sends its report directly to Foothill Admissions & Records, and you request a foreign transcript evaluation through Counseling (source).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For Foothill that means we translate your transcripts and diplomas; the course-by-course evaluation needed for credit comes from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my transcripts for Foothill College?
Foothill asks for documents officially translated into English and does not name who must translate (source). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation.
Do I need a WES evaluation to apply to Foothill?
Not to be admitted. You need a course-by-course evaluation from an outside agency only to receive credit for college classes taken abroad (source, evaluations).
Do I have to mail my original documents?
No. Foothill says no physical documents are required for admission; everything is uploaded in the portal (source). For credit, you bring the original and evaluated transcript to a counselor after you arrive.
Does my bank statement need a translation?
Foothill says the bank letter or statement must be in English (source). It does not mention a translation for it, so ask International Student Programs if your bank cannot issue one in English.
I am applying to Diagnostic Medical Sonography with foreign transcripts. What applies?
The program requires every foreign transcript to be evaluated by one of the agencies on its list (source).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
