How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
Florida Atlantic University evaluates foreign university records itself if you send them with an official word-for-word English translation completed by a certified English translation company; its Graduate College asks for a certified literal translation by a certified translator and points to members of the American Translators Association.
Florida Atlantic University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
First-year applicants with a foreign high school record are the exception: they need a NACES agency evaluation, and the translation goes to that agency.

Worth knowing about FAU
Internal evaluation
FAU can evaluate foreign university records itself, for FAU use only.
Math GPA for freshmen
NACES report with overall and math-only GPA.
30 business days
Graduate internal-evaluation documents are due before the deadline.
FAU requirements in detail
Translation (internal evaluation)
An official, word-for-word English translation of transcripts and degree certificates not in English (International Student Services: foreign credential evaluation).
Who may translate
A certified English translation company (International Student Services); for graduate applicants, a certified translator in the area of education, with ATA members suggested (Graduate College).
First-year applicants
High school records must be evaluated by a NACES agency: course-by-course, exam results, overall US GPA and a separate math-only GPA (International academic credentials). Not required for U.S.-based or IB curricula.
Transfer and second bachelor's
A NACES course-by-course evaluation with GPA (preferred), or an internal FAU evaluation with a certified English translation (International academic credentials).
Graduate applicants
Internal evaluation by FAU, or a NACES member if you choose; FAU may still require a NACES evaluation of any document (Graduate College: foreign credential evaluation).
Where translations go
Undergraduate: sent by the translation agency to admissions@fau.edu (International academic credentials). Graduate: in a sealed envelope from the issuing authority, or emailed by it to graduatecollege@fau.edu (Graduate College: foreign credential evaluation).
Timing (graduate)
Internal-evaluation documents must reach the Graduate College 30 business days before the admissions deadline (Graduate College: foreign credential evaluation).
Caribbean exams
CAPE results go directly to FAU, not to an evaluation agency (List of evaluation agencies).
Two routes for university records: FAU's own evaluation or an agency
Applicants with university work abroad choose between a NACES agency, which FAU calls preferred for undergraduates, and an internal evaluation by FAU's foreign credentials evaluator (admissions).
International Student Services explains that if you submit official foreign transcripts without an agency report, the internal evaluation starts automatically; the result can only be used for your FAU application (International Student Services: foreign credential evaluation).
For the internal route, FAU needs the official records, stamped and signed by the awarding institution, and an official word-for-word English translation completed by a certified English translation company (International Student Services: foreign credential evaluation).
Undergraduate Admissions asks for the documents to be sent by the institution and the translation agency to admissions@fau.edu (International academic credentials); eVerbary can email the certified translation there if you write in the order notes that it is for FAU.
First-year applicants: the agency gets the translation
International first-year applicants not educated in a U.S.-based or IB curriculum must have their high school records evaluated by a NACES agency.
The report must list every subject and grade, include exam results such as CXC or GCSE, and give an overall US GPA and a separate math-only GPA (International academic credentials).
FAU's list of evaluation agencies includes The Evaluation Company, Josef Silny & Associates, ECE, Educational Perspectives, IERF and IEE, among others, and notes that WES evaluates post-secondary work only and provides no translations or high school evaluations.
Each agency sets its own translation rule: ECE accepts any complete, word-for-word translation (ECE) and IEE a certified translator (IEE), while The Evaluation Company takes outside translations only from ATA-certified translators (TEC), which eVerbary can assign on request.
Order the translation first and send it with your records to the agency you choose.
Graduate College: sealed or emailed, and 30 business days
The Graduate College evaluates foreign credentials internally and asks for a certified literal, word-for-word English translation of every academic document not in English, completed by a certified translator in the area of education.
If your university does not issue English documents, it suggests the nearest U.S. Embassy, an EducationUSA center or a member of the American Translators Association. eVerbary is an ATA corporate member (#273062).
The translation must arrive in a sealed, unopened envelope bearing the name and address of the issuing authority, or be emailed to graduatecollege@fau.edu by that authority, and all internal-evaluation documents are due 30 business days before the admissions deadline. eVerbary can email the translation to the Graduate College on request, or mail it in a sealed, signed envelope: choose the hard copy at checkout with the office's address ($19.95 Priority or $37.95 Express in the US) and write in the order notes that it is for the FAU Graduate College.
Need a certified translation for FAU?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate

- Secondary school transcripts and exam results, for the NACES evaluation
- Mark sheets or grade reports listing every subject
- Diplomas, if the graduation date is not on the transcript
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to FAU
Undergraduates: official documents and translations go to admissions@fau.edu or by mail to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 777 Glades Road SU-80, Boca Raton (International academic credentials).
First-year applicants send the translation to their NACES agency instead, and the agency sends its report to admissions@fau.edu.
Graduate applicants: translations reach the Graduate College sealed or by email from the issuing authority; documents are not to be mailed to International Student Services (Graduate College: foreign credential evaluation, International Student Services: foreign credential evaluation).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For FAU that means we translate your records; the NACES evaluation first-year applicants need is ordered by you from the agency, and FAU's internal evaluation is done by FAU.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Will FAU accept a translation from a translation company?
Yes. For its internal evaluation, FAU asks for a translation completed by a certified English translation company (International Student Services: foreign credential evaluation), and the Graduate College suggests ATA members (Graduate College: foreign credential evaluation).
Do I need WES or another agency?
First-year applicants need a NACES agency for high school records (International academic credentials). Transfer and graduate applicants may use a NACES agency or ask for FAU's internal evaluation, which counts only for FAU (International Student Services: foreign credential evaluation).
Can WES evaluate my high school record for FAU?
No. FAU's agency list says WES evaluates post-secondary work only and does not provide translations or high school evaluations (List of evaluation agencies).
How does the translation reach the Graduate College?
In a sealed envelope from the issuing authority or by email from it to graduatecollege@fau.edu (Graduate College: foreign credential evaluation). eVerbary can email it there on request.
When are graduate documents due?
For an internal evaluation, 30 business days before the admissions deadline (Graduate College: foreign credential evaluation).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
