How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
Fairleigh Dickinson University asks international undergraduate, transfer and graduate applicants to include an official English translation of any transcript, diploma or academic document not in English, and does not say who must make it.
Fairleigh Dickinson University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Transfer students also need a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, and graduate credentials may need one; we do not provide evaluations.
FDU at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
FDU's international admissions pages say you "MUST include an official English translation" of documents not in English, and its graduate admissions page asks for a certified English translation, without saying who must make it (undergraduate, graduate), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Classes are blocked until official documents arrive.
India: every marksheet
Semester-wise marksheets, or an Attempts Certificate.
FDU requirements in detail
Translation
An official English translation of any transcript, diploma or other academic document not in English, for first-year, transfer and graduate applicants (undergraduate, transfer, graduate); "certified English translation" on the graduate admissions page (Supporting information for graduate admissions).
Who may translate
Not stated on the admissions pages; see "Where FDU's pages differ" for the transfer credit page.
Evaluation
Transfers: a course-by-course evaluation from any NACES member (International transfers). Graduate: foreign credentials "may require" a NACES evaluation (Supporting information for graduate admissions). First-year: none mentioned.
Copies or originals
Copies of attested or official records for admission (checklist); admitted students send official records in sealed envelopes before arrival and cannot register until they arrive (International undergraduate admissions).
Only one copy?
Do not mail it; bring it in person before the semester and FDU copies it and returns the original (International undergraduate admissions).
India
Deadlines (undergraduate)
Fall July 1, spring December 1; rolling admission with 3-4 weeks of processing (International undergraduate admissions).
Copies to apply, sealed records to enroll
FDU decides on copies.
Its checklist asks for copies of attested or official transcripts, mark sheets, diplomas, national exam results and degrees from every school you attended (International application checklist), uploaded through the online international application or mailed (International undergraduate admissions).
If you are admitted and plan to attend, you send official academic records in sealed envelopes before you arrive, and you cannot register for classes until they are received.
The translation travels with each stage: upload it with the copies when you apply, and include it with the official records when you send them. If you hold only one original, FDU asks you to bring it in person so it can be copied and returned to you.
Transfers and graduate applicants: the evaluation
International transfers complete a course-by-course evaluation from any NACES member (International transfers).
Students with IB higher-level exams, British A-levels or AP exams do not need a WES evaluation for those; they send the official exam results (Transfer credit evaluation FAQ).
Credit is at the departments' discretion, generally for grades of C (2.0) or better, and your previous GPA does not transfer.
For graduate study, official transcripts must be signed by the registrar, sealed and sent directly from the school, and foreign credentials need a certified English translation and "may require" a NACES evaluation (Supporting information for graduate admissions).
Applicants from Indian universities send every semester-wise and supplementary marksheet, or an Attempts Certificate stating the total number of failures (International graduate admissions).
Where FDU's pages differ
The admissions pages ask you to include an official English translation with your records (transfer admissions), but the transfer credit FAQ says your university must submit your official transcript with an English translation, if applicable (transfer credit).
The application checklist also asks transfers for a NACES evaluation "if available", while the transfer page says to complete one (checklist).
We have not resolved this; if you want transfer credit, ask the Office of International Admissions whether a translation from a professional service, sent with your school's official transcript, is enough.
Need a certified translation for FDU?

Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts, diplomas and national exam results
- University transcripts and mark sheets, all semesters
- Degree certificates and provisional certificates
- Attempts Certificates for Indian universities, if not all marksheets are available
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to FDU
Upload records and their translations in the international application (fdu.edu/myintlapp) or mail them; FDU may ask for official documents by post (International undergraduate admissions).
Admitted students mail official records in sealed envelopes to the Office of International Admissions, 1000 River Road, Teaneck, before arriving (International application checklist).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For FDU that means we translate your records; the NACES course-by-course evaluation for transfers, and any graduate evaluation, come from the agency, and the sealed official records from your school.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my documents for FDU?
FDU asks for an official English translation and does not name who must make it (International undergraduate admissions). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation.
Can I apply with copies?
Yes. Admission is based on copies of attested or official records; admitted students send official records in sealed envelopes before arrival (checklist, undergraduate).
Do I need a WES or other evaluation?
As a transfer, yes, from any NACES member (International transfers); not for IB higher-level, A-level or AP exam results (Transfer credit evaluation FAQ). Graduate credentials may need one (Supporting information for graduate admissions).
What do applicants from India send?
Individual semester-wise and supplementary marksheets with all backlogs and retakes, or an Attempts Certificate; consolidated marksheets are not accepted (International graduate admissions, checklist).
What if I have only one original transcript?
Do not mail it. Bring it in person before the semester starts; FDU makes copies and returns the original (International undergraduate admissions).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
