University of Colorado Denver: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
CU Denver asks for a certified English translation of any transcript not issued in English, together with the original-language transcript, and says it has no preferred translation provider but recommends an ATA member company. University of Colorado Denver accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Undergraduates need only the translation, since International Admissions evaluates records itself; graduate applicants choose between that in-house evaluation and an ECE or WES course-by-course report, which we do not provide.
ATA member company
Recommended; there is no preferred provider.
Translation only, undergrad
International Admissions evaluates your records in-house.
Graduate: pick one
In-house ($75 fee) or ECE/WES (fee waived).

| Evaluation (undergraduate) | None needed: International Admissions evaluates the transcript (first-year, transfer). |
| Evaluation (graduate) | In-house by CU Denver, or an ECE or WES course-by-course report; CU Anschutz medical programs require ECE or WES (source). |

Undergraduates: a translation, and no evaluation
CU Denver tells first-year and transfer applicants plainly that they do not need an external evaluation: International Admissions evaluates the transcript during the application, and the applicant only needs to provide a translation (first-year, transfer). The domestic transfer page goes further and asks applicants not to pay for one (source). That makes the translation the document CU Denver works from, alongside the original-language transcript you send with it.
For schools outside the US you send the official transcript if you have it, or the unofficial one if that is all you have; admission can be conditional on the unofficial record, with the official due by the end of the first semester. Among the documents to send, the first-year page lists academic records, their translations and exam results such as WAEC scratch cards; it asks you not to send passports, professional certifications or recommendation letters to the documents inbox (source). US residents with coursework abroad also submit a certified English translation (catalog).
Graduate applicants: in-house or ECE/WES
Every graduate applicant who studied outside the US needs an international credential evaluation, done either by CU Denver International Admissions or by ECE or WES, course-by-course only (source, Graduate Admissions). The choice affects the fee: applicants who use ECE or WES are not charged the $75 international application fee; those who choose the in-house evaluation pay it, unless they come through a contracted recruitment agency. CU Anschutz medical programs accept only the ECE or WES report.
Either way the translation is required. The graduate evaluation FAQ recommends ATA translators or companies for translations made in the US, and asks that translations made in your home country carry the certifier's name, signature, address and date; for ECE or WES it points to those agencies' own translation rules. Indian applicants send every mark sheet and a degree or provisional certificate issued by the university, not an affiliated college (source). See translation for WES.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and diplomas or completion certificates
- University transcripts or mark sheets and degree certificates
- Exam results, such as WAEC
- Indian provisional or degree certificates issued by the university
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to CU Denver
Upload the original-language transcript and its certified translation to the application portal, the preferred route for unofficial documents, or email them to intldocuments@ucdenver.edu; general questions go to intladmissions@ucdenver.edu (source).
Graduate applicants using ECE or WES send their records and translations to the agency, which sends its report to CU Denver; CU Denver emails a link to its ECE and WES ordering page after you apply (source).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For CU Denver that means we translate your records; the ECE or WES course-by-course report, if you choose or need one, comes from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
