Enrolling in a US School District With Documents in Another Language
What 8 of the largest US school districts ask for when a family enrolls a child whose report cards, transcripts or other records are in another language: whether a translation is needed, who may make it, and how foreign high school credit or grade placement is decided.
Every rule is taken from the district's own website, linked, and dated.

District by district
Every district below accepts a translation eVerbary can provide: directly, from a translator individually certified by ATA on request, or through the credential evaluation agency it requires, which in turn accepts professional translations.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
- Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.
What we do not do
eVerbary translates documents; it is not the school district, and it does not decide grade placement or credit. Interpreters for meetings with the school are a separate service: see interpreters for parent-teacher conferences.
Frequently asked questions
Can a public school refuse to enroll my child because the documents are in another language?
Public schools enroll children regardless of the language of their documents; what a translation usually decides is grade placement and, in high school, credit for courses taken abroad. Each district page says what that district asks for.
Does the district translate foreign transcripts itself?
Some districts review foreign records themselves or with bilingual staff; others ask the family for a translation or an evaluation. Each page links the district's rule.
Do I have a right to an interpreter when I enroll?
Districts are expected to communicate with parents in a language they understand; ask the enrollment office. See interpreters for enrollment for what the law says.
How much does a certified transcript translation cost?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words at eVerbary, certification included, usually delivered within 24 hours for one to three pages.
