How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
Orange County Public Schools asks high school students applying for an F-1 student visa (I-20) to bring an official translated transcript of the last three school years completed, plus the current year's transcript with courses in progress.
OCPS does not say who must translate, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets the rule.
Families who move to Orange County are not asked for a translation: a certified school counselor evaluates the foreign transcript, and eVerbary translates documents but does not decide credit or placement.
OCPS at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
The OCPS International Student Admission Application lists an "official translated transcript" of the last three school years among the required documents (OCPS: 2026-27 I-20 Information and International Student Admission Application (PDF)) and does not restrict who translates, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. OCPS requirements in detail
Translation
F-1 (I-20) applicants bring an official translated transcript of the last three school years completed and an active-year transcript with courses in progress (OCPS: 2026-27 I-20 Information and International Student Admission Application (PDF)).
Who may translate
Not specified (OCPS: 2026-27 I-20 Information and International Student Admission Application (PDF)). A certified translation from a professional service meets the rule.
How to submit
By appointment with Student Enrollment: all required documents are presented in person, together with the typed application, the student's birth certificate and a copy of the passport (OCPS: 2026-27 I-20 Information and International Student Admission Application (PDF), International Students).
Who qualifies
I-20s are issued for grades 9-12 only, for one year, to students under 18 who have not graduated; seniors may enroll only for the first semester or the full year (OCPS: 2026-27 I-20 Information and International Student Admission Application (PDF)).
Timing and fee
For 2026-27, applications ran May 18 to July 9, 2026 for August and run November 2 to December 14, 2026 for January; tuition is $11,763 for the full year or $5,882 for a semester, by cashier's check from a US bank (OCPS: 2026-27 I-20 Information and International Student Admission Application (PDF)).
Families moving to Orange County
Enrollment is online; academic records or the last report card are uploaded if the student is transferring, with no rule on their language (OCPS: How to Enroll). A certified school counselor evaluates the foreign transcript (ELL Plan).
J-1 exchange students
Placed through sponsoring organizations with a principal's approval; the packet includes a transcript from the current school, with no translation rule (Policy JFABB).
The I-20 appointment, step by step
OCPS issues the I-20 itself.
The family books an appointment with Student Enrollment by phone or email (OCPS: International Students (ocps.net)) and brings everything in person: the typed International Student Admission Application, the birth certificate and a copy of the passport, the official translated transcript of the last three years and the current-year transcript, an Educational Guardianship if the student will live with someone other than a parent, and the tuition payment.
Staff then complete the I-20 online and submit it electronically; once the student is approved, the I-20 copy and the usual registration documents go to the school (OCPS: 2026-27 I-20 Information and International Student Admission Application (PDF)).
If the visa is denied or the student does not attend, the family may request reimbursement in writing with a copy of the denial letter (OCPS: 2026-27 I-20 Information and International Student Admission Application (PDF)).
Because the documents must be complete at the appointment and the deadlines carry no exceptions, order the translation of all three years and the current year before booking.
How OCPS reads a foreign transcript
Under the district's ELL Plan, the certified school counselor evaluates the foreign transcript and builds the student's credit history, using the NCAA Guide to International Academics and the Scholaro database; the original foreign transcript is kept in the cumulative folder (OCPS: District ELL Plan 2025-2028).
Courses taken in another country or language earn the same credit as in the US, and years of native-language study can be entered as language arts or English credits.
Credits from other schools are accepted at face value, subject to validation (Student Progression Plan).
For the counselor to match courses, the English version has to show every subject, hour count and grade exactly as issued. We translate the grading scale as printed and never convert marks to a US GPA; the credit decision is the counselor's.
Support for newcomer families
OCPS's Global Family Welcome Center, at 6051 Magic Way in Orlando, helps newcomer families with registration, vaccinations, language assessment and grade placement, and lists transcript review, interpretation and programmatic assessment among its services, with parent liaisons in Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole (OCPS: Global Family Welcome Center).
The district's Translation and Interpretation Services translate district communications into Spanish, Haitian Creole and Portuguese and provide free phone interpreters at every location.
Those services cover communication with the school; the F-1 application's translated transcript is the family's to provide.

What an eVerbary translation includes

- Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
- Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.
Submitting the translation to OCPS
Bring the original transcripts and their certified English translations to the Student Enrollment appointment for the I-20, with the rest of the required documents (OCPS: 2026-27 I-20 Information and International Student Admission Application (PDF)).
Families enrolling as residents upload records through online enrollment, or bring copies to the school to be scanned (OCPS: How to Enroll).
What we do not do
eVerbary translates documents; it is not the school district, and it does not decide grade placement or credit. Interpreters for meetings with the school are a separate service: see interpreters for parent-teacher conferences.
For OCPS that means we translate the transcripts and records; the I-20, the tuition, the credit evaluation and the grade placement are handled by the district.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
