Where the translation rule is written

The district registration page lists the documents every family uploads: proof of residence, birth certificate, parent ID, immunizations legible in English, and the last report card or transcript (Katy ISD registration).

The instruction for families coming from abroad sits on the campus registrar pages: Katy High School and Seven Lakes High School write that international students must upload documents translated into English (Katy HS, Seven Lakes HS), and Tays Junior High asks international families to bring them translated (Tays Junior High registrar).

Upload the translation together with a scan of the original record, so the registrar can match each page. A certified translation carries a signed statement of accuracy, which helps when the campus has to rely on the English version for placement.

Why course names decide high school credit

In Katy ISD a high school student's grade follows credits: 5.5 credits make a sophomore, 12 a junior, 19 a senior (Katy ISD general registration requirements).

The Seven Lakes registrar notes that foreign transcripts often list subjects only as "Math", "Science" or "Social Studies", while the campus needs to know whether math was Algebra 1, Geometry or Algebra 2, and whether science was Biology, Chemistry or Physics; it asks families to add course descriptions, the former school's website and course catalogs (Seven Lakes High School registrar).

A translation cannot add detail the original lacks, but it should not lose any either.
