How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
The Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure requires a certified English translation, by a recognized translator, of any diploma or other document that is not in English, and its notary guidelines ask that the translation and a copy of the original both be notarized.
MSBML accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, with notarization added at checkout. International graduates also request an ECFMG status report; we translate, we do not request verifications.
MSBML at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
MSBML's rule asks for a certified translation into English (Administrative Code, Part 2605) and its instructions specify a certified translation by a recognized translator (application instructions), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Worth knowing about MSBML
Recognized translator
A certified English translation; the Board names no particular translator.
Two notarizations
The translation and a copy of the original, each notarized.
Wet ink, by mail
No e-notarization; original notarized papers go by mail or by hand.
MSBML requirements in detail
Translation
Any diploma or other document not in English must come with a certified translation into English (Part 2605, Rule 1.1).
Who may translate
A recognized translator (MD/DO and DPM licensure application instructions); the application page repeats it as item D, Translated Foreign Language Documents (MD/DO permanent license application).
Notarization
The translation must be notarized, and the translation and a copy of the original document must both be notarized and submitted; notarizations must be dated within the last six months (Notary Guidelines).
Original or copy
Send photocopies only; original documents are not returned. A notarized copy of a certified translation is accepted (MD/DO and DPM licensure application instructions, Notary guidelines and certification form).
How to submit
Upload documents in MELS; mail or hand-deliver every original notarized document to the Board in Ridgeland (MD/DO permanent license application, Notary guidelines and certification form).
Evaluation
No credential evaluation.
International graduates need an ECFMG certificate (or a Fifth Pathway with ABMS certification) and request an ECFMG status report (Administrative Code, December 2025, MD/DO and DPM licensure application instructions).
FCVS is accepted as primary-source verification (MD/DO permanent license application).
The notary rules are where files stall
MSBML's Notary Guidelines are specific.
Every notarization needs the notary's stamp or seal, name, signature, commission expiration date and a date within the last six months; photocopies of a notarization and electronically notarized documents are not accepted (Notary guidelines and certification form).
For a translated document, the Guidelines ask that the translation and a copy of the original each be notarized and submitted.
eVerbary's notarization ($34.90 per order) covers the translation.
The copy of your original is a separate step you arrange: a notary certifies it as a true and correct copy, using the Board's Notary Certification Form if you like, or you sign that statement yourself and the notary notarizes your signature. Check both dates against the six-month window before you mail them.
Upload in MELS, then mail the paper
Applications go through MELS, the Board's online system, where you upload applicant-side documents such as the diploma copy (MD/DO permanent license application).
The Board also says all original notarized documents must be mailed or hand-delivered (Notary guidelines and certification form).
In practice, upload a scan of the notarized translation with the application and mail the notarized paper with your affidavit.
Where MSBML's pages differ
The instructions say the Board "will accept a notarized copy" of a certified translation (MD/DO and DPM licensure application instructions); the Notary Guidelines go further and ask for the translation and a copy of the original to be notarized and the originals of notarized documents to be mailed (Notary guidelines and certification form).
Following the Guidelines satisfies both. US medical schools may send original and translated diplomas on an applicant's behalf (MD/DO permanent license application), which does not apply to most foreign schools.
Need a certified translation for MSBML?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Medical school diploma

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
- Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.
Submitting the translation to MSBML
Upload the translation and the copy of the original in MELS with your application, and mail or hand-deliver the notarized originals to the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure, 805 S. Wheatley Street, Suite 600, Ridgeland, MS 39157 (Notary guidelines and certification form).
Certification forms and reports (school, training, exams, ECFMG) go to the Board directly from the issuing institution.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.
For Mississippi that means we translate and notarize your translation; we do not request your ECFMG status report or school certifications, and we do not file in MELS for you.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
