QKB, and one window
An Albanian company is registered with the National Business Center (Qendra Kombëtare e Biznesit), which since the 2007 reform handles registration, tax and other enrolments at one window. The ekstrakt — the register extract — is what a counterparty needs and it shows the administrator, the capital and the shareholders.
Albania publishes the register online, so an extract can be verified against it, which is why the identification number is reproduced exactly rather than tidied.
NIPT, now NUIS
The unique identification number was long called the NIPT and is now formally the NUIS. Both labels appear across documents of different vintages and they refer to the same identifier, which we note so a reader does not go looking for two numbers.
It doubles as the VAT number, so a company has fewer identifiers than in most neighbouring systems.
SHPK and SHA
The shoqëri me përgjegjësi të kufizuar (SHPK) is the limited liability form and shoqëri aksionare (SHA) the joint-stock one. The abbreviation is part of the legal name and neither maps onto a US entity.
The extract states the administrator and the scope of representation, and that clause is translated precisely rather than as "director".
ë and ç, and the statute
Albanian uses ë and ç, and stripping them changes words and names — a company name rendered without them is a different name. We reproduce the Albanian and note a genuine difference from a passport.
