University of Oklahoma: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
The University of Oklahoma asks international applicants whose transcripts are issued in another language for the official original-language document plus an official, or certified, English translation; its Graduate College asks for an official or certified, word-for-word English translation, and neither names who must translate. University of Oklahoma accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. OU evaluates foreign records itself, without an outside credential evaluation, and for transfer credit it relies on your official syllabi or course descriptions.
Original plus translation
OU wants the original-language document and the English version.
Word-for-word for graduate
The Graduate College adds that the translation be literal.
S or U
Foreign transfer grades become satisfactory or unsatisfactory.
OU requirements at a glance
| What OU asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation, undergraduate | The official, original-language document plus an official, or certified, English translation (International undergraduate admission). |
| Translation, graduate | The original document plus an official or certified, word-for-word English translation; after admission, official transcript, degree certificate and certified English translations (Graduate College: international applicants). |
| Who may translate | Not stated at either level. |
| What to send | Official transcripts from every school attended, including middle school for freshmen, and official copies of national graduation exams and certificates (International undergraduate admission). |
| Evaluation | None required. OU's Office of Admissions & Recruitment evaluates and verifies foreign credentials; graduate eligibility is reviewed by your Admissions Counselor (undergraduate, graduate). |
| Transfer credit | Official syllabi or course descriptions for all coursework; without them, general elective credit only. Evaluated after admission (International undergraduate admission). |
| Official records, graduate | Originals or attested copies; anything uploaded or emailed is unofficial by definition (Graduate College: international applicants). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. OU's international undergraduate admission page requires "an official, or certified, English translation" with the original-language document (undergraduate admission), and the Graduate College an official or certified, word-for-word translation (graduate international applicants); neither limits who translates, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets both. Undergraduate: the original document, and an official or certified translation
OU's rule for international freshmen and transfers is in one sentence: if your school issues the transcript in a language other than English, OU requires the official, original-language document as well as an official, or certified, English translation (International undergraduate admission). It applies to all secondary or middle schools for freshmen, and to every college, university, professional and technical school for transfers. If your country has standardized graduation exams and certificates, official copies of those are needed too.
After admission, freshmen have the high school send the official final transcript showing the graduation date directly to OU (admitted students). A certified translation of that final transcript keeps the file complete when it arrives in another language.
Transfer credit: syllabi decide, and grades become S or U
The Office of Admissions & Recruitment evaluates foreign college work itself, and awards credit for courses at institutions accredited and recognized by their country's Ministry of Education. To equate a course to an OU course it needs official syllabi or course descriptions; without them you can expect only general elective credit, which may not count toward your degree (International undergraduate admission). Transfer evaluations are completed only after formal admission, so OU asks you to send transcripts and syllabi when you apply.
Once you are admitted, grades from international institutions are converted to neutral S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory) grades. Your foreign marks therefore matter for admission and for deciding which courses count, but they do not enter your OU grade point average as letter grades. Syllabi written in another language are part of what we translate, at the same price per page.
Graduate College: word-for-word, and attested copies after admission
The Graduate College asks for a complete academic record: an official transcript of all degree coursework, a degree certificate unless the transcript shows the degree and conferral date, and a Diploma Supplement for Bologna-compliant degrees. Records in another language need the original and an official or certified, word-for-word English translation (Graduate College: international applicants). Applicants with Indian degrees send individual semester mark sheets showing repeated courses; a consolidated mark sheet alone is not accepted.
You upload copies with the application. If admitted, you submit official records, defined as original documents or attested copies, together with certified English translations, by mail or at an appointment with your Admissions Counselor. The Graduate College warns not to mail a transcript if it is the only official copy your school will ever issue; bring it in person instead.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary and middle school transcripts
- National graduation exam results and certificates
- University transcripts and degree certificates
- Official syllabi or course descriptions, for transfer credit
- Diploma Supplement or individual semester mark sheets, for graduate applicants

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to OU
Undergraduates submit official transcripts and translations as part of the international application handled by OU's Office of Admissions & Recruitment, and transfer applicants add syllabi at the same time (International undergraduate admission).
Graduate applicants upload unofficial transcripts and translations in the online application, then after admission mail the official records to Graduate College Admissions in Norman or bring them to an appointment (Graduate College: international applicants).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For OU that means we translate your transcripts, certificates and syllabi; attested copies and transcripts sent by your school come from the school.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my transcripts for OU?
OU asks for an official or certified English translation and does not say who must make it (undergraduate, graduate). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Does OU need the original-language transcript too?
Yes. Both the undergraduate office and the Graduate College ask for the original-language document together with the translation (undergraduate, graduate).
Do I need to translate my syllabi?
OU needs official syllabi or course descriptions to match your courses to its own; without them you receive general elective credit only (International undergraduate admission).
Will my foreign grades count in my OU GPA?
No. After admission they are converted to S or U grades (International undergraduate admission).
What counts as an official transcript for the Graduate College?
The original document or an attested copy; any transcript you upload or email is unofficial (Graduate College: international applicants).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
