University of Central Oklahoma: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
The University of Central Oklahoma asks international applicants whose transcripts are issued in another language for the original-language document plus an official, or certified, English translation; its Office of Global Affairs does not say who must make the translation. University of Central Oklahoma accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. UCO does not ask for an outside credential evaluation: its own offices review foreign credit from course descriptions in English, and the graduate college converts foreign grades itself.
Official or certified
English translation, uploaded with the original-language record.
No outside evaluation
UCO reviews foreign credit from your syllabi.
Attested copies accepted
Official transcripts are checked when you arrive.
UCO requirements at a glance
| What UCO asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation | Required when a transcript is issued in a language other than English: upload the original-language document and an official, or certified, English translation (source). |
| Who may translate | Not stated. The rule names the kind of translation (official or certified), not the translator. |
| What you upload | The record with your school's official stamp or seal, or an attested copy verified by an authorized agency, through the application portal (source, undergraduate admissions). |
| Official transcripts | Digital copies are used for the admission decision; official transcripts must reach UCO when you arrive in the US (source). |
| Transfer credit | No evaluation agency: you send a syllabus or course description in English for each course, and UCO's Articulation Office and department chairs decide, usually in four to eight weeks (source). |
| Graduate applicants | The Jackson College of Graduate Studies admits; scanned records are accepted for the decision and it converts foreign grades to UCO's 4.0 scale itself (source, graduate catalog). |
| Other documents in English | The bank statement must be an official or certified statement in English, and an ID used instead of a passport must be in English (source). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. UCO's admission documents page asks for "an official, or certified, English translation" next to the original-language transcript and does not limit who makes it (admission documents); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Original plus translation, uploaded first, checked on arrival
UCO's Office of Global Affairs builds the whole international file in the application portal. For academic credentials, a first-year applicant uploads the secondary record that shows 12 years of schooling, either the original with the school's official stamp or seal or an attested copy verified by an authorized agency; applicants with college credit do the same for every college attended. When the record is issued in another language, UCO wants both: the official original-language document and an official, or certified, English translation (admission documents).
UCO decides on the uploaded copies, but the official transcripts must be in its hands when you arrive in the US, and its page warns that leaving out any college coursework can be grounds for termination. The translation should therefore cover every page you upload, with stamps, seals and grading notes translated, so the paper set you bring matches what was reviewed.
Foreign credit: your syllabi, not an agency report
Many universities send foreign college work to WES or another NACES member. UCO does not, on the pages we read. After admission, you send a syllabus or course description in English for each course, with books, topics, grading system and contact hours, to the Office of Global Affairs by email (JPEG, PDF or Word) or mail. OGA checks that your university is recognized by the home-country ministry of education, the Articulation Office reviews the transcript, and each department chair decides on the courses, sometimes after an interview; the average is four to eight weeks (transferring credit).
So for UCO the documents that need English are the transcript and the course descriptions. Applicants transferring from a non-US institution need a 2.30 cumulative GPA, or 2.00 from a UCO partner with a transfer agreement, on UCO's grading system (undergraduate admissions).
Graduate school: JCGS admits, OGA issues the I-20
Two offices handle graduate applicants. The Jackson College of Graduate Studies reviews applications and makes the decision; the Office of Global Affairs issues the I-20 or DS-2019 after admission, from the financial documents you upload in the portal (graduate admissions). First-time F-1 and J-1 applicants apply by Oct. 15 for spring and June 15 for fall, and JCGS accepts a scanned academic record for the decision, while keeping the right to ask your university for official transcripts (how to apply).
The graduate catalog adds two details: JCGS converts the grades on foreign transcripts to UCO's 4.0 scale (with no plus or minus grades), and it may admit you before the degree is posted on a certified document from your university stating that all bachelor's requirements are complete (graduate catalog). The graduate pages do not repeat the translation rule; the central documents page is the one that states it.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and the graduation certificate or diploma
- College or university transcripts and degree certificates
- Syllabi or course descriptions, for transfer credit
- A university letter confirming bachelor's degree completion, for graduate applicants
- Bank statements, and marriage or birth certificates for dependents
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to UCO
Undergraduate and graduate applicants upload the original-language record and its translation in the UCO application portal; decision letters and the I-20 are downloaded from the same portal (source, graduate).
Course descriptions for transfer credit go to the Office of Global Affairs by email or mail after admission; official graduate transcripts are mailed to JCGS, Nigh University Center Room 404, 100 North University Drive, Box 117, Edmond, OK 73034 (source, source).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For UCO there is no outside evaluation to order; we translate your transcripts, diplomas and course descriptions, and UCO's own offices evaluate them.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my transcripts for UCO?
UCO asks for an official, or certified, English translation and does not say who must make it (source). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary fits that wording.
Do I need WES or another evaluation for UCO?
Not on the pages we read. For transfer credit, UCO reviews English syllabi itself (source), and the graduate college converts foreign grades on its own (source).
Do my course descriptions need to be in English?
Yes. UCO asks for a syllabus or course description in English for each course you want evaluated (source).
Can I upload a copy instead of the original?
Yes. You can upload the record with your school's stamp or seal, or an attested copy verified by an authorized agency; official transcripts are checked when you arrive (source).
Does my bank statement need translating?
UCO asks for an official or certified bank statement in English (source). If your bank issues it only in another language, a certified translation is the usual way to provide it.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
