A Foreign Credit Evaluation report from CED, The Evaluation Company or WES for coursework abroad; without it the application is not reviewed (International undergraduate application).

Translated by a certified professional, sent by your counselor

UMass Dartmouth's international application asks for sealed official transcripts, secondary and post-secondary, translated into English by a certified professional (International undergraduate application).

The transcripts must show at least three years of grades and reach admissions from your school counselor, either uploaded in the Common App or emailed to international@admissions.umassd.edu.

The page does not ask first-year applicants for a credential evaluation, so the translation is what admissions reads to check the 2.5 minimum GPA it lists. Grades and the grading scale should appear exactly as on the original, never converted.

Transfer: the evaluation report decides when you are reviewed

If you are transferring from a college or university abroad, UMass Dartmouth wants your courses evaluated by an approved US agency and names three: the Center for Educational Documentation, The Evaluation Company and World Education Services.

Without that Foreign Credit Evaluation report, the application will not be reviewed (International undergraduate application).

Each agency sets its own translation rule.

WES accepts an exact, word-for-word translation from a professional translation service and not one made by the applicant (WES); The Evaluation Company asks that outside translators be certified by the American Translators Association (TEC).

Order the translation first, then send it to the agency with your records.

Transfer applicants with fewer than 24 transferable credits, or out of high school less than three years, also send the high school transcript translated into English (International undergraduate application).

Course descriptions and credit

To have college credits evaluated properly, UMass Dartmouth asks for photocopies of catalog pages with course descriptions, with your courses and the college name marked on each page; Massachusetts public institutions are exempt (International undergraduate application).

Missing descriptions may mean credit is not awarded. Descriptions written in another language are pages you can have translated with the transcript.

Graduate applicants follow a separate route: the graduate requirements page accepts unofficial transcripts and test scores for review and asks for official documents only at enrollment (Graduate admissions requirements).

It does not describe translations, so ask Graduate Admissions which version it wants with a non-English record.

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to UMass Dartmouth

  • Your school counselor uploads the transcript and its translation in the Common App or emails them to international@admissions.umassd.edu; check missing items in the applicant portal (International undergraduate application).

  • Transfer applicants send the translated records to CED, TEC or WES first, and the agency's Foreign Credit Evaluation report then goes to UMass Dartmouth (International undergraduate application).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For UMass Dartmouth that means we translate your transcripts and course descriptions; the Foreign Credit Evaluation report for transfer applicants comes from CED, TEC or WES.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
