Troy University: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
Troy's international admissions page asks undergraduate and graduate applicants for official copies of their documents in the original language and in English translation, as PDFs, without saying who translates, and its undergraduate catalog asks for an official English translation of foreign college transcripts. Troy University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The graduate catalog words it more strictly (an English transcript from the school or a translation through a credential evaluation service), and evaluations come from an agency, which we do not provide.

Troy requirements at a glance
| What Troy asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation | Official copies in the original language and in English translation, if not in English (International student admission requirements). No translator type is named. |
| Where to send | PDFs are accepted by email by your recruiter; or your school sends official credentials to intltranscripts@troy.edu (International student admission requirements). |
| Originals | All official academic documents must be presented in original form on arrival for admission verification (International student admission requirements). |
| Transfers from abroad | An official transcript with an official English translation and a 2.00 equivalent GPA (catalog). |
| Transfer credit | F/J students on the Troy, Dothan and Montgomery campuses present originals with an English translation and course descriptions to the Academic Evaluation Center; others need a NACES course-by-course evaluation (catalog). |
| Graduate evaluation | May be required, from a NACES member; WES and IEE give Troy applicants a discount (International student admission requirements). The graduate catalog prefers ECE (catalog). |
| Sponsor letter | If it is not in English, provide an English translation (International student admission requirements). |
| Timing | Apply at least three months before the term (catalog). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. Troy's international admissions requirements ask for documents in English translation, and the undergraduate catalog for an official English translation, without restricting who makes it, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that rule. PDFs first, originals at the door
Troy runs international admission through recruiters. Its requirements page lists the documents, transcripts for grades 10 to 12 and the diploma for undergraduates, transcripts, diploma and a recommendation letter for graduate applicants, and asks for official copies in the original language and in English translation, as PDFs, for an initial evaluation. Your school can instead send official credentials to intltranscripts@troy.edu. When you arrive, you present every official academic document in original form for verification.
Translation reaches beyond grades: a sponsor letter not written in English needs an English translation, and the bank statement has to be under six months old and show the bank, date, account holder and balance. Troy calls itself "Alabama's International University" and only its Alabama campuses and the Atlanta teaching site host student-visa holders.
Transfer credit: Troy's Evaluation Center or a NACES agency
The undergraduate catalog asks transfers from universities abroad for an official transcript with an official English translation and a GPA equal to 2.00. For transfer credit, the route depends on your status. Students on F or J visas at the Troy, Dothan or Montgomery campuses take their original transcripts, an English translation and course descriptions prepared by their university to the International Admissions Office, which processes them through the Academic Evaluation Center.
Students not on F or J visas, such as TROY Online or military-affiliated students, request a course-by-course evaluation from any NACES member, sent to TROY Online Student Services with transcripts and course descriptions from the issuing schools.
Where Troy's pages differ
For graduate applicants, the international admissions page asks only for documents in English translation and says an outside NACES evaluation may be required. The Graduate Catalog asks for an English transcript prepared by the institution, or, if the school cannot provide one, a translation through an approved credential evaluation service, with ECE preferred for the evaluation. We have not resolved this difference. If you are applying to a graduate program, ask your Troy recruiter which rule applies before you order a translation.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcripts (grades 10 to 12) and diploma
- University transcripts, mark sheets and diplomas
- Course descriptions, for transfer credit
- The sponsor letter, if it is not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Troy
Send PDFs of your official documents, each with its English translation, to your Troy recruiter by email, or have your school send official credentials to intltranscripts@troy.edu (International student admission requirements).
Bring the originals with you: Troy verifies every official academic document on arrival.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For Troy that means we translate your transcripts, diplomas, course descriptions and sponsor letter; NACES or ECE evaluations come from the agency, and an English transcript issued by your school can only come from that school.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my documents for Troy?
Troy's international requirements ask for an English translation and do not limit who makes it. A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies. Graduate applicants should also read the graduate catalog rule above.
Can I email my documents?
Yes. PDFs of official copies, in the original language and in English, are accepted by email by your recruiter for the initial evaluation (International student admission requirements).
Do I need to bring originals?
Yes. All official academic documents must be presented in original form on arrival (International student admission requirements).
Do I need WES for a graduate program?
An outside NACES evaluation may be required; WES and IEE give Troy applicants a discount (International student admission requirements), and the graduate catalog names ECE as preferred (Graduate Catalog 2026-27: general regulations).
Does my sponsor letter need a translation?
Yes, if it is not in English (International student admission requirements).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
