Requirements checked on October 27, 2026 from SUNY Plattsburgh's public pages (sources).
SUNY Plattsburgh asks international applicants to submit academic records in English or with a certified English translation, and suggests the American Translators Association directory as one place to find a certified translator; it does not require that the translator be ATA-certified.
SUNY Plattsburgh accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Unofficial records are enough for the admission review, and official documents confirming the results follow before acceptance becomes final.
SUNY Plattsburgh at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
SUNY Plattsburgh says academic records "must be submitted in English or include a certified English translation" (how to apply); its mention of the ATA directory is a suggestion for finding a translator, not a requirement, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies. Sample translation: a Brazilian university transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with invented names, school and numbers. The original in Portuguese sits next to our English translation, and the PDF starts with the signed certification page. Bracketed text in the translation is a translator's note: each abbreviation is spelled out the first time it appears, and the layout follows the original line for line, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- CPF, RG, MEC, D.O.U., CH, CR and ENADE are spelled out in brackets the first time they appear, and only then.
- Status codes (AP, RM, RF, AE) are explained on first use, so a course failed and retaken the next term reads correctly.
- Grades, decimal commas and dates stay exactly as printed; the date format is noted once. Converting grades is the evaluator's job.
- Terms, rows and columns follow the original line for line, so each course can be matched at a glance.

SUNY Plattsburgh requirements in detail
Translation
Academic records in English or with a certified English translation (International admissions: get started).
Who may translate
Not restricted; the page recommends the ATA directory to find a certified translator (International admissions: get started).
For the review
Unofficial transcripts, mark sheets, grade reports, diplomas, certificates or national exam results may be submitted; enrollment stays conditional until official documents arrive (International admissions: get started).
High school
The last three to four years of secondary records with the completion date, plus a copy of the graduation certificate certified by a school official (Missing application item descriptions).
College records
Required from any post-secondary school attended, even for a single class, certified by a school official with original stamp and signature (Missing application item descriptions).
Bank statement
Dated within two months, on bank letterhead, with the account holder and currency indicated in English; no affidavit of support in its place (International admissions: get started).
Where to send
Upload records to your admissions portal; $50 application fee through Common App, SUNY or the international application (International admissions: get started).
Records, translations and certified copies
Plattsburgh separates two things. For the admission review you can upload unofficial academic records, and they must be in English or include a certified English translation (how to apply).
Separately, all documents must be originals or copies certified by the source institution, such as the high school or examination council, or by an EducationUSA advising center.
A certified copy is the school's job; the certified translation of it is ours.
The missing-items page spells out each record: the last three to four years of secondary school with the completion date, a copy of the graduation certificate certified by a school official, and official records from any college or university you ever attended, even if you took a single class or never completed a course (missing application items). Each comes with an English translation if it is not in English.
Bank statements and other documents
The financial guarantee is a bank statement dated within the past two months, on bank letterhead, with the account holder's name and the currency clearly indicated in English; an affidavit of support cannot replace it (International admissions: get started).
If the account holder has a different family name, they write a letter in English explaining the relationship and their intention to support you.
Plattsburgh repeats its translator suggestion here, so a certified translation of a bank letter not in English fits the same rule.
Documents submitted for review become the property of SUNY Plattsburgh and are not returned or sent to another college, so keep your own copies of the originals and translations.

Upload the records and their certified translations to your admissions portal; enrollment stays conditional until the official documents confirming your results are received (International admissions: get started).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does the translator have to be ATA-certified for SUNY Plattsburgh?
No. Plattsburgh asks for a certified English translation and suggests the ATA directory to find a translator (International admissions: get started); a certified translation from a professional service qualifies.
Can I send unofficial copies?
Yes, for the admission review; acceptance and enrollment are conditional until official documents arrive (International admissions: get started).
Do I need records from a college where I took one class?
Yes. The requirement applies even to a single class or courses you did not complete (Missing application item descriptions).
Does my bank statement need to be in English?
The account holder and currency must be clearly indicated in English (International admissions: get started).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
