Saint Louis University: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
Saint Louis University (SLU) asks every international applicant to submit academic records in English translation for each secondary and post-secondary school attended, and its graduate admission procedures ask for the original plus a certified English translation; no page says who must translate. Saint Louis University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Course-by-course evaluations are accepted and required in some cases, for example when the one-year MBA asks for WES or ECE; that evaluation comes from an agency, not from us.
Upload after applying
Translated records go into the SLU application portal.
Copies first
Unofficial copies for review; officials before enrollment.
No application fee
Undergraduate and the SLU graduate portal charge none.
SLU requirements at a glance
| What SLU asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation | Academic records in English translation for all secondary and post-secondary institutions (source, catalog). |
| Graduate wording | Original-language transcript plus a certified English translation, from every college attended (source). |
| Who may translate | Not named on the admission pages or in the catalog (source, procedures). |
| Evaluation | Course-by-course evaluations are accepted and required in some cases (catalog); the one-year MBA may request a WES or ECE evaluation (MBA). |
| Copies or originals | Unofficial copies may be used for the first review; official copies must come directly from your school before you enroll (source). |
| Transfer credit | Not from unofficial copies; coursework must come from an accredited or Registrar-approved international institution (source, transfer credit policy). |
| Graduate programs | Each program may add requirements; check the catalog page for your degree (graduate FAQ). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. SLU's international admission page asks for academic records "in English translation" (international admission) and the graduate procedures for "a certified English translation" (graduate admission procedures), neither naming a required translator; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets both. Policy checked on October 13, 2026. |

One upload, then the officials before you enroll
SLU's international admission page sets out one sequence for undergraduates: apply online (there is no undergraduate application fee), then upload your academic records, in English translation, to the application portal. Secondary school graduates send the final transcript and the results of any leaving exam; anyone with college study sends a transcript from each institution, including advanced diplomas.
Unofficial copies may be enough for the admission decision, but official copies have to come straight from your school before you enroll. One exception matters for transfers: SLU cannot evaluate transfer credit from unofficial copies, and it counts coursework only from accredited institutions or international institutions the University Registrar approves (source).
Graduate applicants: the catalog adds "certified"
Graduate applicants apply through SLU's own portal or a centralized service, and some programs review unofficial transcripts (graduate FAQ). The catalog's graduate admission procedures list among the required documents the transcript in its original language and a certified English translation from every college or university attended. Program pages add their own rules: the one-year MBA, for example, reserves the right to ask for a WES or ECE evaluation (source).
Where SLU's pages differ
For graduate applicants, the admission procedures ask for a certified English translation, while the catalog's graduate international applicants page and the admission website ask only for an English translation. We have not resolved that difference. A certified translation from a professional service satisfies both wordings; your graduate admission counselor can confirm what your program expects.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and final transcript
- School-leaving or external exam results
- University transcripts and diplomas, including advanced diplomas
- Degree certificates for graduate applicants
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to SLU
Undergraduates upload translated academic records to the SLU application portal after submitting the application; your school later sends official copies directly to SLU (source).
Graduate applicants upload the original and the certified translation in the graduate application portal, and send official transcripts before registering for courses (graduate FAQ, procedures).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For SLU that means we translate your records; a course-by-course evaluation, when SLU or your program asks for one, comes from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my documents for Saint Louis University?
SLU asks for academic records in English translation, and its graduate procedures for a certified English translation, without naming a required translator (source, procedures). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Where do I upload my translated records for SLU?
In your application portal, after you submit the application (source).
Does SLU require a WES evaluation?
Not for everyone. Course-by-course evaluations are accepted and required in some cases, and the one-year MBA may request WES or ECE (catalog, MBA).
Can I apply with unofficial copies?
Yes, for the first review. Official copies must come directly from your school before you enroll, and transfer credit cannot be evaluated from unofficial copies (source).
Does my graduate translation need to be certified?
The graduate admission procedures ask for the original transcript plus a certified English translation (source).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
