University of Mississippi: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
The Ole Miss Graduate School says transcripts and certificates from international institutions must be official or officially certified and must include an English translation, without saying who has to translate; the undergraduate international pages do not mention translations. University of Mississippi accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The translation does not replace the official transcript, which has to come from your school (or a certifying body Ole Miss names), and we cannot send documents on a school's behalf.
Emailed by your school
Undergraduate transcripts count only if a school official sends them.
No notarized copies
They do not replace official academic credentials.
Unofficial first
Most graduate programs decide on unofficial transcripts.
Ole Miss requirements at a glance
| What Ole Miss asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation (graduate) | International transcripts and certificates must be official or officially certified and include an English translation (Graduate School admissions). No translator type is named. |
| Translation (undergraduate) | The international freshman and transfer pages do not mention translations (freshman, transfer). |
| Official undergraduate transcripts | Emailed to study@olemiss.edu by a counselor or school official, or sent through Common App; copies you send yourself are unofficial (New freshman international admissions, International students: application process). |
| Certified copies | Accepted when certified by the issuing school, a US Consulate education office or a sponsor such as Fulbright or IREX; notarized copies are not (FAQ). |
| On arrival | Admitted undergraduates bring the official transcript and diploma (International students: application process). |
| Graduate transcripts | Unofficial transcripts for review in most programs; official ones by post, no later than the end of your first semester. Email delivery is for US institutions only (Graduate School admissions). |
| Application | UM application or Common App; $75 fee, never waived for international applicants; apply before February 1 for fall and October 1 for spring (New freshman international admissions). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. The Graduate School requires an English translation with international transcripts and certificates and does not restrict who makes it, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that rule. Policy checked on October 13, 2026. |

Undergraduates: the transcript, not the translation, is what Ole Miss checks
Ole Miss's undergraduate rules are about how the transcript reaches the university. Transcripts go to study@olemiss.edu and count as official only when a high school counselor or school official sends them, or when they come through Common App; anything you send yourself is unofficial, and you bring the official transcript and diploma when you arrive (International students: application process). Freshmen should send at least six semesters of secondary coursework, and Ole Miss does not review a transcript before you apply (New freshman international admissions).
Its FAQ defines an official record as one issued by the school with original seals, stamps or signatures, or a copy certified by the issuing school, by a US Consulate education or culture office, or by sponsors such as Fulbright or IREX. Notarized copies of academic credentials are not accepted in place of official ones (FAQ). That rule is about the transcript itself. Your GPA on the US scale decides whether you need the SAT or ACT: 3.0 or higher needs no score; 2.5 to 2.99 needs SAT 880 or ACT 16. Transfers need over 30 credit hours and a 2.0 (transfer).
Graduate School: official, translated, and mailed
The Graduate School reviews most applications on unofficial transcripts, which you can email to gschool@olemiss.edu, and asks for official ones before you enroll and no later than the last day of your first semester. Accountancy, political science, higher education and teacher education programs need official transcripts before they will consider you. Official electronic transcripts are accepted only from US institutions, so a school abroad mails its transcript to the Graduate School at PO Box 1848, University, MS 38677.
Transcripts and certificates from international institutions must be official or officially certified and include an English translation. F-1 students can study only at the Oxford campus or the DeSoto satellite campus (Graduate international admissions (Office of Global Engagement)), so check that your program is offered there.
Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts and mark sheets, for graduate applicants
- Degree certificates and diplomas
- Secondary school transcripts (at least six semesters)
- The high school diploma you will present on arrival
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Ole Miss
Graduate applicants send unofficial transcripts and the English translation to gschool@olemiss.edu for review; the school abroad mails the official transcript to the Graduate School, PO Box 1848, University, MS 38677 (Graduate School admissions).
Undergraduates: your school emails the transcript to study@olemiss.edu or sends it through Common App (New freshman international admissions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For Ole Miss that means we translate your transcripts and diplomas; the official transcript itself has to come from your school or a certifying body Ole Miss names.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my documents for Ole Miss?
The Graduate School requires an English translation of international transcripts and certificates and does not say who makes it. A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Can I send notarized copies of my diploma?
No. Ole Miss does not accept notarized copies in place of official credentials; certified copies must come from the issuing school, a US Consulate education office or a sponsor such as Fulbright (New freshman international admissions).
Can I email my own transcript to undergraduate admissions?
You can, but it counts as unofficial. Official transcripts come from a school official or through Common App, and you bring the official transcript and diploma on arrival (International students: application process).
Will the Graduate School decide on unofficial transcripts?
For most programs, yes. Accountancy, political science, higher education and teacher education need official transcripts first (Graduate School admissions).
Is there a deadline for international undergraduates?
Admission is rolling, but Ole Miss recommends applying before February 1 for fall and October 1 for spring (New freshman international admissions).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
