Requirements checked on October 28, 2026 from Nelson's public pages (sources).

Nelson University requires an official evaluation from WES, Transcript Research or InCred of every international high school and college transcript, with one official copy sent to Nelson and one to the evaluator, and asks for six months of official bank statements in English, noting that translation is available through companies.

Nelson's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Translate first, then order the evaluation; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript

This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice

  • Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
  • The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
  • Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
  • The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

Nelson requirements in detail

Translation (records)

No rule of its own; the evaluator needs the translation before it can evaluate a record not in English.

Translation (bank statements)

Official bank statements should be in English; translation is available through companies (International student admissions).

Who may translate

Set by the evaluator for records; WES requires a professional translator (WES).

Evaluation

An official evaluation from WES, Transcript Research or InCred of all international high school and college transcripts (International student admissions).

High school waiver

Transfers with more than 21 college credit hours may have the high school requirement waived (International student admissions).

Timing

Apply at least six months before the intended start; first semester paid in advance before the I-20 (International student admissions).

Other items

$35 application fee, pastoral recommendation, ACT or SAT, financial support forms (International student admissions).

Every international transcript goes through an evaluator

Nelson asks for an official evaluation from WES, Transcript Research or InCred of "ALL" international high school and college transcripts, and for two official copies of each transcript: one sent to Nelson and one to the evaluation service (international admissions).

If you are transferring with more than 21 college credit hours, ask your admissions counselor whether the high school transcript can be waived.

Nelson recommends submitting the application at least six months before your start date, which matters because the evaluation, the I-20 and the visa all come after the translation. For the school record, see high school diploma translation.

Bank statements: in English, translated by a company

Before an I-20 is issued, applicants and every sponsor submit six months of official bank statements, with the Student Statement of Financial Support and the sponsor support form.

Nelson says these records should be in English and that translation is available through companies (International student admissions).

A certified translation of each statement, with balances and dates as they appear, is what that asks for; it is a different document from the evaluation and goes straight to Nelson.

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency; it does not accept translations by applicants, family or friends and does not translate itself.

Transcript Research and InCred do not appear in the sources we read; ask them about translations before ordering.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Nelson that means we translate your transcripts for the evaluator and your bank statements for the I-20; the evaluation is ordered by you from WES, Transcript Research or InCred.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
